Ahmed reached the finals after beating his compatriot and tour debutant, Ahmed Amin Al-Awahdi in an all-Bahraini semi-finals, 211-191. The first runner-up beat Kuwait's Khaled Al-Dubyyan, 222-200 in Round 2.
In the first round, Ahmed edged 2012 Tour ranking leader, Ryan Lalisang of Indonesia, 187-169 to avance into the second round.
Top seed and Bahrain Open second runner-up, Yousef Al-Jaber made an early exit after losing to last year's Bahrain eg champion, Andrew Frawley of Australia, 194-225 while second seed, Fawaz Abdulla lost to Hong Kong's Michael Tsang, 215-232 in Round 1. |
