             ABF TOUR - MALAYSIA 2004
A perfect start to a Perfect Tour Day 1 story...

28th March, P.Jaya: It was a perfect start to a perfect Tour when Indonesia's Ryan Lalisang shot a perfect game of 300 en-route to capturing the first title of the ABF Tour Malaysia 2004 while local favourite Wendy Chai of Malaysia took the women's title.

The perfect game, which was caught LIVE on Astro Supersport and broadcast throughout the nation was witnessed by a large crowd at Pyramid Megalanes. Indonesia's Ryan Lalisang reeled off 12 consecutive strikes for 300 to defeat Sultan Al-Marzouqi from UAE who score 237 in the Men's final match to capture his first major international title.

"This is my 10th career perfect game and I will always remember this one because it is my first perfect game in an international tournament," said the

24 year-old law student at Atma Jaya University in Jakarta. "I have always finished second or third in all the international tournaments that I have participated and to win by hitting a perfect game must be the happiest moment for me," added Lalisang who started bowling at the age of 13.

Lalisang reached the final after knocking out Chinese Taipei's Kao Hai Yuan 238-226 in a closely fought game while his opponent and runner-up Sultan Al-Marzouqi defeated Asian Ranked No. 1, Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong in an even more closely fought semi final match.

In the women's division, Wendy Chai gave Malaysia another win when she took the title by narrowly defeating teammate Sarah Yap 257-256. Sarah started the match with four strikes-in-a-row to take an early lead while Wendy just paced herself nicely. After a single-pin miss in the fifth frame by Sarah, both bowlers exchanged strikes after strikes from then on. Wendy had to strike home for the victory and when she did that exactly, it sent the crowd on their feet.

"With this win, I've erased the disappointment of failing to make the cut for the stepladder finals in the Malaysian Open two days ago after finishing 7th," said the 2003 Hong Kong Open champion. "I'll be in Singapore for the Super Classic in the next few days and I hope to maintain my form and perform well," added Wendy.

Each Leg will be staged over two competition days where the top 16 men and 16 women bowlers from the preceding International Open Masters Event (Open Grade) will compete in a one-game match play knock-out competition for the individual men's and women's titles.

The Tournament of Champions will be staged over four competition days where the top 16 men and 16 women bowlers (based on ABF Tour ranking points), plus two additional wildcard entries from the West Asia region (thus totalling 18 men in the men's division), will qualify to compete over four rounds of competition for the coveted men's and women's ABF Tour Champion titles.

Highlights of the ABF Tour Malaysia Day One matches was telecast on Astro Supersport an hour before the LIVE coverage of the semi final and final matches March 28 started at 14:00 local time.
