Singapore youths lead qualifying standings

11th December, Petaling Jaya: 2019 Asian Youth Team gold medallist, Eugene Yeo and 2019 Hong Kong Open champion, Ilya Syamim of SBF Singpaore led the Boy's and Girl's Open qualifying standings of the 20th Storm U22 International Junior All-Stars Bowling Championships.

Yeo ammased a three-games series of 743 to lead the Youth Boy's Open table ahead of compatriot, Zenson Koh of Bowling Is Science Academy by one pin in second. Thailand's Putana Buspunikonkul did well to take up third with 722 series.

2019 Philippine Open Youth champion, Jordan Dinham of Australia and newly-crowned Youth Under-15 champion, Brandon Bohn of USA completed the top five tieing in fourth position with 721.

Malaysian national youth member, Muhammad Syazirol topped the local pool and overall standings with a stunning 761 and an impressive 253.67 average. Mathew Ong of Wipers claimed second spot with 752 while 2019 Sarawak Open Youth Under-25 first runner-up, Abang Afiq Yazid of ABAS finished third with 751.

Another youth from Sarawak, Musayyar Khalid and 2019 Asian Championships Trios bronze medallist, Mohammad Hafiz Zainuddin rounded out the top five local qualifiers tieing fourth position with 726 each.

The top 12 Youth Boys Open local qualifiers, top 12 overseas qualifiers, 18 from the mixed pool along with three from the Desperado squad and the defending champion (total 45) will advance to the 10-games Masters finals on December 13. The top with the highest pinfalls will proceed to the Stepladder Shootout Finals.

Meanwhile, this year's Hong Kong International Open champion, Ilya Syamim of SBF, Singapore led the overseas pool with 694 followed by Japan's Rio Watanabe in second with 672. Korean debutant, Hong Hee Jin of CNTU took up third spot with 662.

Newly-crowned Youth Under-15 champion, Althea Dang of Singapore and her compatriot, Alyssa Koh Jia Wen made up the top five with 639 and 636 respectively. Siti Nurzulaikha topped the local pool with a superb 722.

Mia Syafiqa Afira Marzuki finished second with 699 followed by Alia Nadira Azmi of Pahang Sukma Squad member in third position with 694. Nur Hazirah Bt Ramli of ABAS, Sarawak and national youth Nurul Alyssa Junaidi completed the top five with 684 and 680.

The top 11 Youth Girls Open local qualifiers, top 11 overseas qualifiers, 11 from the mixed pool along with two from the Desperado squad and the defending champion (total 36) will advance to the 10-games Masters finals on December 13. The top with the highest pinfalls will proceed to the Stepladder Shootout Finals.

The 20th Storm U22 International Junior All-Stars Bowling Championships, which is one of the top youth bowling competition in Asia, is sponsored by Storm and co-organized by the Storm-U22 Bowling group and Sunway Megalanes.
