Eighteen cities vying for honours

9th November, Jakarta: Fifteen member cities and three guests cities will be vying for honours when they compete in the 37th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship hosted by Jakarta City at Jaya Ancol Bowling Center from November 11 to 15, 2025.

Member cities are Bandar Seri Bagawan, Beliat, guest city Seria from Brunei, Hong Kong, New Territories from Hong Kong, Jeju, Ulsan, Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, guest cities Subang Jaya from Malaysia, Paranaque, Pasay and guest city Pasir Ris from Singapore and host Jakarta.

Five cities will field full teams of Men, Women, Men Senior and Women Senior while the rest will field a mixture of Men, Women, Men Senior and Women Senior teams totaling 62 Men, 32 Women, 48 Men Senior and 40 Women Senior athletes with 47 team officials.

The athletes were confirmed at the Team Managers Meeting held at Discovery Ancol Hotel Convention Center this evening. As usual, the meeting kicked off with a welcome address by Mr Johnson Cheng, President of Asian Intercity Bowling Council (AIBC) during which he thanked all the cities for their support in taking part in this year's championship.

He also thanked joint organizers, Jakarta City and Jaya Ancol Bowling Center for hosting the 37th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship and their effort extended to teams so far. Mr Joey Miranda III, Secretary General of AIBC and President of IBF Oceana Zone, who is the Tournament DIrector, chaired the meeting and kicked off with a roll call.

He went through the championship schedule highlighting the official practice sessions, the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony with a banquet hosted by Jakarta city. The official practice is divided into two squads of one and a half hours each starting at 9.30am local time for Squad A and 1.00pm for Squad B on November 10.

The Official Opening Ceremony will be held at 5.00pm local time at Jaya Ancol Bowling Center followed by a welcome reception. The Jury of Appeal comprising of Mr Johnson Cheng, Mr Mervyn Foo (Committee Member) and Mr Richard Lai (First Vice President).

Competition will kick off with the Singles event on November 11, the Doubles event on November 12 with the Singles and Doubles Medal Rounds on November 13. The Team of 4 will be contested on November 14 and the Medal Round on the same day.

The top 16 based from each division based on their All Events Standings (11 games) will qualify for the Elimination Knockout Masters Finals on November 15. A Victory Banquet to be held at 7.00pm at the Novotel Mangga Dua Square concluding the week long championship.
