13th April, Petaling Jaya: National youth, Ethan Damien Goh successfully defended the Boy's Open Masters title of the 43rd Malaysian International Open Bowling Championships while Adania Redwan led Malaysia's dominance by winning the Girl's Open Masters crown.

Malaysian National youth, Wan Muhammad Zarif Ikram got off the block with a superb 258 to lead newcomer, Noel Hagland Torgersen of Norway by 10 pins followed by Goh, Amin Zulkarnain Bin Zulkifli and Ahmad Farish Danial of Malaysia shring third spot with 223.

Goh shot a big game of 256 to move into the lead with Torgersen remaining in second with 214 as Wan Muhammad Zarif slipped down to third. Goh kept his lead after the third game with another strong game of 225 while the Swede continued to trail the Malaysian.

The leader almost shot the tournament's second 300 when he rolled 299 to stretch his lead to 119 at the halfway mark. Torgersen remained in second as Mohammad Zuhair Bin Zailan of PTBPP/Penang moved up to third.

Goh added 246, 193 and 231 in his next three games as he eased off with 147 to seal victory and successfully defended the title he won last year with 1820, averaging an impressive 227.5. Wan Muhammad Zarif settle for second with 1722 to give Malaysia a one-two finish.

Torgersen did well to hang on to clinch third spot with 1718 after a strong final game of 249. Another Malaysian National Youth, Danial Abu Samah stormed home but missed the podium to take up fourth position with 1696. Mohammad Zuhair rounded out the top five with 1663.

Meanwhile, 2024 World Youth Team gold medalist, Adania Redwan almost led from start to finish except for game four after she lost the lead to compatriot, Adelia Nur Binti Irwan. Adania starting on a blistering pace with 278 to lead Anathacia Gadding John Lon in second.

But after losing the lead in the fourth game, Adania bounced back with 248 and a scintillating 289 in the fifth game to regain the lead. Adelia trailed the lead by 14 pins at this stage. Adania went on to end the finals with 211 and 224 to capture the Youth Girl's Open crown with 1840.

Anis Hannani Binti Romzi stormed home to snatch second position with 1746 followed by Anathcia Gadding in third position with 1718. Adelia missed the podium slipping down to fourth with 1668 while Quratu'ain Izdihar of Malaysian National Youth completed the top five with 1614.

Ethan Damien Goh picked up RM8,000 and a trophy as champion of the Youth Boy's Open Masters with RM4,000 and RM2,000 going to the first and second runners-up. Adania Redwan earned RM5,000 as champion in the Girl's division with RM2,500 and RM,1000 going to the first and second runners-up.

The Senior Masters finals will be held in the evening as qualifying rounds will continue through to April 18. The Men's and Women's Graded Finals and the Men's and Women's Open Finals will be held on April 19 and 20.
