Malaysian leads overall standings after second block

6th March, Taoyuan: Malaysian youth, Ethan Damien Goh led the Open division overall qualifying standings of the 2nd Formosa International Bowling Classic 2025 after the second block of qualifying rounds while Li Ying Chi of Chinese Taipei led the local pool.

Lai Tsung Cheng of Chinese Taipei had led the standings with 1107 in the first block, managed only 1024 in his second block to slip to third in the local pool behind Li Ying Chi, who took over the top spot with 2167 after the second block.

Lin Yueh Liang, who finished third in the first block with 1060, improved with 1075 in his second block to take up second 2135 while Lai slipped down to third with 2131.

Goh, who shared second spot with Squad C leader, Supakrit Wantasu of Thailand with 1086, bettered his second block with 1111 to become the overall leader with 2197. Ex-Hong Kong international, Ernest Kwok moved into second in both the overall and local pool standings with 2178.

A second Malaysian, Muhammad Noor Hidayat finished third in the local pool with 2131. The top three local and top three overseas qualifies will earn a bye and skip the Open Masters Round 1 and advance to Round 2 automatically.

Lin Yifeng of Chinese Taipei and Ivan Tse of Hong Kong national team headed the Mixed pool with identical 2128 total. Qualifiers positioned 7 to 51 (total 45 qualifiers) will contest Round 1 Finals on March 8. The cut in 51st position went to Adelia Nur Binti Irwan Syazalee of Malaysia with 1965.

Yu Bing Sen of Chinese Taipei topped the Graded qualifying standings with 2095 followed by Syaffique Ikhwan of Malaysia in second with 2075 and Rattanapat Chatchaisiri of Thailand and Kun Hung Chun of Chinese Taipei sharing third with 2067.

Squad D Block 1 leader, Tsao Wen Bin of Chinese Taipei led the Senior division with 2025 followed by Singapore's Hairon Bin Awang in second with 1994 and Fang Chih Nan of Chinese Taipei third with 1990. Lin Yueh Liang, who occupied second in the Open division local pool, topped the Spinner division with 2135. Lin Zhen Yu and Wu Bo Jhong took up second and third with 2125 and 2068 respectively.

Lin Yueh Liang and Lin Zhen Yu occupied the top two positions the Youth U22 division qualifying standings with Cheng Shao Hua, Kun Hung Chun, Tsai I Wei and Zhu Bo Cheng making up the top six in the local pool. Ethan Damien Goh topped the overseas pool with 2137.

Muhammad Noor Hidayat of Malaysia, Shawn Goh of Singapore, Yoshinao Shimoji of Japan, Dylam Lam and Leo Choi of Hong Kong, China made up the top six overseas qualifiers of the U22 division. The bowlers will resume with their third and final block of 5 games qualifying rounds tomorrow.
