2017 World Championships move to Las Vegas

16th May, Lausanne: World Bowling annouced today that the 2017 World Championships (combined Men and Women) will be moved to South Point Hotel Casino, Las Vegas, United States of America.

The dates for the championships will be from November 24 to December 6, 2017. The World Bowling Congress will be held on December 6, 2017. Bulletin 1 for the 2017 World Championships will be distributed to all federations within the week of May 15.

The Championships which was due to be held in Kuwait City in December has had to change location due to unforeseen delays with the construction of the Kuwait Bowling Center. World Bowling Executive Board have instead awarded the 2021 World Championships hosting rights to Kuwait.

World Bowling CEO, Kevin Dornberger said, "The delays in construction meant that we could not be certain that the new facility would be ready in time."

"South Point Hotel and Casino provides an excellent back up choice and we are certain that the change in location will have no effect on the event itself. We are very much looking forward to the completion of the world class facility being built in Kuwait and anticipate an excellent event being held there in 2021."

Meanwhile, the 2017 World Senior Championships in Munich is June 15, 2017. If your federation intends to send athletes but might have a problem with the entry deadline, please contact 2017WSrC@worldbowling.org prior to the deadline to discuss for a possible extension.

However, World Bowling cannot confirm at this time whether ANY extension of the hotel deadline is acceptable by the hotel. Subsequently if your federation is planning to participate, please make your hotel booking no later than June 15.

Each federation is allowed a maximum of four senior men and four senior women athletes. Your federation may send less athletes if you choose to. The oiling pattern bank to be used for the World Senior Championships will be Bank 2 (formerly Medium). The pattern banks are on the World Bowling website.
