Team Hero Bowling snatches victory in final game

6th March, Kuching: Ex-international youth Chong Jun Foo and Desmond Law Kwang Yew of Hero Bowling, snatched victory in the Doubles over the long oil pattern of the Sarawak Hornbill Team Cup 2024 ahead of MSNS-ABAS Mixed pair in second and Johor Boys pair in third.

The Johor girl's pair comprising of ex-national youth, Nur Ainul Hayat and Nurul Aisyah Binti Saleh got off the mark with a superb 456 to lead the field of 42 Doubles pairs. MSNS-ABAS Mixed B pair of national youth, Gordon Tsen Fan Yew and Ethan Damien Goh trailed in second with 440.

Mathew Ong and Muhammad Hariz Adlan of Sunway Megalanes was third with 438. Ong and Muhammad Hariz took over the running with another good second game of 466. Wan Nadzmi Fikri and Wan Muhammad Naqib of Fighter Kental moved into second spot after adding 426 to their 435 opener.

Sunway Megalanes and Hero Bowling's Desmond Law and Chong Jun Foo shared third spot with 833 a peice after two games while early pace-setter, Johor Girls fizzled off. Tsen and Goh took over the running despite a moderate 438 in their third game.

Fighter Kental remained in second and Johor Boys 2 of Ahmad Farish Daniel and Airel Amri Bin Suhaimi leapfrog into third ahead of Law and Chong still only in fourth position, 32 pins adrift the leader.

Law and Chong fired a superb 465 to snatch victory in the final game with 1704. Tsen and Goh ended with 416 to settle for second position with 1687, 17 pins behind the champion. Johor Boys 2 finished with 440 to clinch third position with 1681.

Fighter Kental and Sunway Megalanes rounded out the top 5 with 1620 and 1616 respectively. The champion walked away with the prize of RM2,000 for their effort. The first and second runners-up took home RM1,000 and RM500 respectively.

Competion will shift to the Trios event over short and long oil patterns tomorrow over two squads for each pattern. Four players will be in each team but only the top 3 with the higest scores will be taken into account. The top 3 trios finishers will be declared the winners for each of the patterns contested.
