16th July, Incheon: Singapore will face their neighbor, Malaysia in the Girl's Team finals of the 2024 IBF World Youth Championships while in-form, Czech Republic will square off with United States in the Boy's Team finals on Thursday July 18.

Top-seed from the earlier Matchplay Rounds, Singapore's Ning Tay, Nur Irdina Bonte Hazly, Colleen Pee and Singles finalist, Arianne Tay, cruised into the finals with victory over fourth-seed, Norway. The Singapore quartet edged the Norwegians, 183-169 in the first match and 201-189 in the second for a 2-0 win.

Malaysia's Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee, Nur Hazirah Ramli, Anis Hannani Romzi and Adania Mohd Redzwan had to work harder for their victory. After winning the first match, the Malaysians lost to third-seed, COlombia 201-231 to set up the third and deciding tie.

Despite an opened frame in the fourth, Malaysia bounced back with three strikes-in-a-row to pull away from their opponent. Colombia had two opened frames and when they missed a single pin 10, the match was done and dusted with a 201-178 win.


Girl's Team finalists, Singapore vs Malaysia

In the earlier Matchplay Rounds, Singapore topped the Group A with 15 points from five wins out of seven and a total pinfalls of 1435. Colombia (231) advanced to the semi-finals after beating USA (209), Korea (163) and Czech Republic (179) in a four-way tie-breaker roll-off.

Malaysia led Group B with 18 points from six wins and a total pinfalls of 1439. Norway (200) beat Canada (169) in a tie-breaker roll-off to advance to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, top-seed Czech Republic's Jaroslav Zapletal, Ondrej Prekop, Ondrej Trojek and Lukas Jelinek was forced into a third decider after fighting back with a 183-181 win in the second match in the semi-finals. The Czechs had lost the first match to Japan, 217-234.

The third match was a tight game with very little separating the two teams until the seventh frame when the Czechs struck home for a 265-223 win thereby booking their spot in the Boy's Team finals with a 2-1 victory. Host nation, Korea was denied a spot in the finals after losing to third-seed, United States, 1-2.

Korea took the first match, 236-215 and lost the second match, 187-236. United States narrowly beat the Korean quarter, 197-188 for a 2-1 victory to earn their place in the finals.

Czech Republic topped the earlier Matchplay Rounds Group A with 18 pins from six wins and a total of 1612 pinfalls. United States defeated Germany, 258-224 in the tie-breaker roll-off to advance to the semis.
