17th April, Tamuning: Two Bronze medalist and 1st runner-up in the AVIVA ABT 2002 Grand Slam Finals, Duane Camacho capped the final Gold medal for host Guam in the 19th East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship in Tamuning while Liang Ya-Ping of Chinese Taipei captured the Women's crown. |

The host country of the 19th East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships Guam capped the tournament with a Gold medal finish in the person of local bowling superstar Duane "Big Daddy" Camacho. Camacho, who was the 1st runner-up in the AVIVA Asian Bowling Tour 2002 Grand Slam finals averaged 230 in the last eight games of the Masters finals with a final total of 3597 to overcome Chinese Taipei's Kao Hai Yuan and Tsai Ting Yun who settled for the Silver and Bronze medals with 3496 and 3468 respectively.
Going into the last game of the tournament Duane was up by as much as 104 pins from the second position. His golden finish in the Masters follows a double bronze medal haul from the mens trios and the mens all-events.

In contrast, Liang Ya-Ping of Chinese Taipei had to pull out the tricks in her bag scoring 214 in the last game to overcome Korea's Park Sung Hee and Japan's Hiroko Shimizu. Liang was running second in the final and position round of the Women's Masters where only one pin separated her from the leader after 15 games.
It was a close fight as she had to double in the last frame to eventually capture the Womens Masters title with 3371. Park and Hiroko settled for Silver and Bronze medals with 3343 and 3338 respectively.
Mari Kimura (JPN-3296) and Kim Soo Kyung (KOR-3282) finished 4th and 5th respectively while overnight leader, Zhang Feng-Li dropped to 6th and missed a medal. |

Chinese Taipei dominated the 19th edition of the East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships here in Central Lanes Bowling Center in Tamuning, Guam as they garnered 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. Korea came in second with 3 Gold, 9 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.
Korea will be the host of the 20th East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships in the year 2004.

16th April, Tamuning: Singles Gold medalist, Zhang Feng Li of China lead the Women's Masters 1st Block finals of the 19th East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship in Tamuning, Guam while Korea's Kwon Koo Man tops the Men's division. |

Zhang who won 5 of the 8-games first block Masters finals, scored 1681 for a total of 1731 to lead the Women's division by a mere 8 pins from Korea's Park Sung Hee. Park who has won 5 Silver medals in all the events so far will be looking for her first Gold in the Masters. Third was All-Events Gold medalist, Hiroko Shimizu from Japan with a total of 1672 pinfalls.
Japan's Mari Kimura took 4th place despite only winning 3 of her 8 games with a total of 1645 while two Bronze medalist, Liang Ya-Ping of Chinese Taipei took 5th spot with 1627. Liang's teammate, Wang Yi-Fen was 6th with 1613.

In the Men's division, Doubles and Team Gold medalist, Kwon Koo Man of Korea took a comfortable lead with a total of 1797, 66 pins ahead of his nearest rival Cheng Fang-Yu of Chinese Taipei. Cheng, the Trios Gold medalist won 7 of his 8 games finals to total 1731 while Guam's Joseph Guerrero finished 3rd, just 8 pins away. Triple Gold medalist, Tsai Ting-Yun was 4th with 1706 followed by Asian Intercity 2002 Masters champion, Duane Camacho of Guam in 5th with 1703.
The Masters finals 2nd block of 8 games will continue tomorrow (17th April).

Japan and Korea shares honours in Team event |
15th April, Tamuning: Japan and Korea shared honours when the Japanese women captured their first Gold medal in the Team event while the Korean Men's Team won their third Gold in the 19th East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship in Tamuning, Guam. |

Japan, where the first edition of the tournament was held, earned its first Gold medal of the championship winning the Women's Team event. The Japanese team who led from the start of the event was composed of 2001 AMF World Cup champion, Mari Kimura, Kazumi Sato, Kumi Fukuda, Mai Takasaka, Mika Yoshioka and AVIVA ABT 2002 Hong Kong Leg winner Hiroko Shimizu. The women captured the Gold after totaling 6043 to beat Korea and Chinese Taipei who had 5993 and 5895 respectively.
Hiroko Shimizu stormed home to win the Women's All-Events Gold medal with 4838 over the 24-games 4 events and Japan's second Gold medal. Silver medal went to Korea's Park Sung Hee while overnight leader, Zhang Feng Li of China dropped to third to tie with Jeon Da Hye of Korea for Bronze.

Meanwhile, Korea snared its third gold medal of the tournament winning the Mens team event. Members of the team included Yoon Dal Young, Kwon Koo Man, Lee Tae Ju, Kim Jong Hyeon, Nam In Chul and Park Dae Soon. They combined for 6084 beating Chinese Taipei and Japan who had 5931 and 5772 respectively. The host country Guam was unlucky when they narrowly lost the Bronze medal to Japan by only one pin.
Two Gold medalist, Tsai Ting Yun won his third Gold medal when he finished top of the Men's All-Events with a total of 5147. The Silver medal went to Kim Jong Hyeon of Korea with Duane Camacho scoring Guam second medal with a Bronze.

Korea leads the Overall Medal Standings with 4 Gold, 8 Silver and 2 Bronze medals for 42 points followed by Chinese Taipei with 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals for 30 points in second while China has 2 Gold and 3 Bronze medals and 19 points for third.
The final event will be the Masters finals which will be played today.

China and Chinese Taipei captures Trios Gold |
15th April, Tamuning: China and Chinese Taipei both won their second Gold medal each in the Women's and Men's Trios event respectively in the halfway stage of the 19th East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship at Central Lanes Bowling Center at Tamuning, Guam. |

China garnered its second gold medal of the tournament after winning the Women's Trios event. The Chinese team comprising of Chen Jing, Yang Shui Ling and Chen Shu Xian combined to score 3556 for a well deserved win. Korea's Kim Soo Kyung, Jeon Da Hye and Park Sung Hee who shot 3465 won the Silver while Chinese Taipei's Liang Ya Ping, Wang Ya Ting and Chien Hsiu Lan who totalled 3445 took Bronze.
Liao Peishan, Yan Zhan Fei and Zhang Feng Li were unlucky not to win a medal when they narrowly lost to the Chinese Taipei's by just 4 pins.
Tsai Ting Yun of Chinese Taipei who earlier won the mens singles event captured his second gold medal in the tournament shooting 1319 or a 220 average together with fellow teammates Wu Fu Liang and Cheng Fang Yu who shot 1232 and 1213 respectively. Their combined score of 3764 |

overpowered the Korean team's of Yoon Dal Young, Kim Jong Hyeon and Nam Il Chul totaling 3733. The Koreans who won both the mens and ladies doubles earlier were leading the event up to the 5th but managed only 557 compared to the 628 shot by Chinese Taipei. The host team Guam's Jay Leon Guerrero, Frank Russo and Duane "Big Daddy" Camacho who were running second up to the fifth game only shot 593 to eventually win the bronze medal.
Korea leads the Overall Medal Standings with 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 1 Bronze medal for 30 points followed by China and Chinese Taipei in joint-second with 17 points. Chinese Taipei has 2 Gold and 1 Silver medal while China has 2 Gold and 2 Bronze medals.
Only two more events will be contested in the 19th edition of the East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships. The 5-person Team event is now under way while the Masters event will be held in the next two days.

Korea dominates Doubles event with a Double |
14th April, Tamuning: The Koreans once again demonstrated their dominance in the sport of bowling as they captured the Men's and Women's Doubles event of the 19th East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships held here at the Central Lanes Bowling Center in Tamuning, Guam. |

The Koreans finished 1-2 in both the mens doubles and the womens doubles, proving that the they are indeed world class in the sport of tenpin bowing. Lee Tae Ju and Kwon Koo Man combined for a total of 1231 edging fellow Koreans Kim Jong Hyeon and Yoon Dal Young by only 2 pins to take snatch Korea's first Gold medal.
Chinese Taipei's Cheng Fang Yu and Tsai Ting Yun won the Bronze medal winning over fellow countrymen Yang Nien Hua and Kao Hai Yuan by only one pin.

The women's division saw Korea likewise finishing 1-2. Kim Yun Kyung and Jeon Da Hye combined for 1258 to win over the duo of Kim Soo Kyung and Park Sung Hee who tallied 2445. Both pairs outscored the mens' division winners. Mari Kimura and Hiroko Shimizu of Japan finished third with a total of 2413.
The 2nd block of the trios are underway in this 19th edition of the tournament participated in by 7 countries in the region namely China, Chinese-Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Saipan.
In the All-Events after 15 games, China and Chinese Taipei continue to lead in the women's and men's division respectively. Zhang Feng Li of China has a combined aggregate total of 3119 for a 208 average followed by Yang Feng Hsia of Chinese-Taipei with 3075 while Jeon Da Hye of Korea is in third with 3072.
Mens' Singles Gold medalist, Tsai Ting Yun continued to lead the men's All-Events with 3217 or an average of 214. Kim Jong Hyeon (3160) of Korea and Cheng Fang Yu (3115) of Chinese Taipei are trailing in second and third positions respectively

China and Chinese Taipei wins Singles Gold |
13th April, Tamuning: China and Chinese Taipei both started out strong in the 19th East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships at Central Lanes Bowling Center in Tamuning, Guam where Zhang Feng Li and Tsai Ting Yun won the Women's and Men's Singles Gold medal. |

Chinese bowlers dominated Day One of the competition finishing 1 and 3 in the womens' singles. China's Zhang Feng Li captured the gold medal in high fashion bowling on lines of 204, 245, 256, 202, 214 and 242 for a total of 1363 on a 227 average.
Zhang edged out Park Sung Hee of Korea who won the Silver medal with 1266 and fellow teammate Yang Suiling who shot 1209 for the Bronze medal.

Meanhwile, Chinese Taipei made an even stronger finish in the mens' singles capturing the Gold and Silver medals in the event. Tsai Ting Yun totaled 1387 on lines of 234, 247, 257, 221, 226 and 202 to win comfortably from fellow countrymen Cheng Fang Yu who shot 1317 to take the Silver medal. Kim Jong Hyeon of Korea bagged the Bronze medal with 1284 winning over the host country Guam's Frank Russo by one pin.
The 19th edition of the tournament formerly known as the Far East Tenpin Bowling Championships opened yesterday with the Governor of Guam Mr. Felix Camacho gracing the event and WTBA Hon. Life President Kyohei Akagi of Japan declaring the tournament open.
