Jason, who ended the 12-game Masters finals roll-off earlier in pole position with 2630 to advance to the stepladder finals as topseed, easily defeated challenger, Vincent Lim, 257-216 in the title match to win the national title for the second time.
The champion had created history in 2005 when he won the men's crown with his sister, Jasmine Yeong-Nathan taking the women's title at the same time. Vincent Lim, who was seeded fourth, edged fifth-seed, Alan Tan Koon Chye and sixth-seed, Basil Low, 219-212-194 in the first match.
Vincent also defeated third-seed, Paiman and fourth-seed, Lenny Lim, 201-182-176 in the second match to earn a crack at the title but found the champion a handful and settling for the runnerup spot. |
