22nd November, Singapore: Topseeds, Jason Yeong-Nathan and Geraldine Ng were crowned national champions of the 39th AIA Singapore National Championships which ended at Orchid Bowl @ Orchid Country Club on Saturday evening.

Jason, who ended the 12-game Masters finals roll-off earlier in pole position with 2630 to advance to the stepladder finals as topseed, easily defeated challenger, Vincent Lim, 257-216 in the title match to win the national title for the second time.

The champion had created history in 2005 when he won the men's crown with his sister, Jasmine Yeong-Nathan taking the women's title at the same time. Vincent Lim, who was seeded fourth, edged fifth-seed, Alan Tan Koon Chye and sixth-seed, Basil Low, 219-212-194 in the first match.

Vincent also defeated third-seed, Paiman and fourth-seed, Lenny Lim, 201-182-176 in the second match to earn a crack at the title but found the champion a handful and settling for the runnerup spot.

In the Ladies' division, victory also went to topseed, Geraldine Ng Su Yi. The 22-year-old National Development squad member who will turn 23 next month, had completed the 12-game Masters roll-off in top spot with 2507.

Ng edged challenger, New Hui Fen, 217-191 to win her first major title. Hui Fen, who was seeded fourth, cruised through to the second match after knocking out fifth-seed, Amanda Ng and sixth-seed, Ong She-Na, 225-198-173 in the first match.

Hui Fen continued to impress in the second match with victory over third-seed, Teo Liying and fourth-seed, Gina Lim, 248-182-163 to reach the finals. Teo dropped to third while Gina remained in fourth position.
