6th Cathay Bowl Junior Classic | 2001 Results |

The 6th Cathay Bowl Junior Classic rolls off on 17 December 2002 at the Cathay Bowl, SAFRA Yishun with promise of intense and riveting competition.

Billed as Asia's premier international youth bowling tournament, it is open to all bowlers aged 21 years and below. Through exposure to international competition, Cathay Bowl hopes to raise the standard of bowling for youths in Singapore. This would also help to foster and promote goodwill, comradeship, friendship and sportsmanship between local bowlers and their foreign counterparts.

At stake is the champion's trophy and prizes totalling almost S$30,000, making this the richest youth tournament in Asia. The bowler of the perfect game will walk away with S$30,000, the highest cash prize for the perfect game in a youth tournament in Asia.

Prizes are presented in cash/in kind. In order to protect the winner's amateur status, all prizes will be awarded through the respective affiliates of the recipients.

In Qualifying Round, conducted over three days, each bowler will bowl a total of 24 games. The field will be trimmed to the top 36 bowlers who will bowl ten games each in the Semi-Finals. Finally, the top three bowlers to emerge will advance to the step-ladder Grand Finals to vie for the coveted trophy and the first prize worth S$6,000.

Bowlers will also stand a chance to win special awards, ranging from the High Game of the Day award, Overall Top Qualifier award (for top 3 qualifiers who advance to semi-finals), and top Local Bowler award.

A perfect game prize of S$30,000 cash will be awarded for the achievement of a 300-pinfall score during the tournament. In its five year history, the perfect game award has been given out to two bowlers, who shared the perfect game prize in 1999. Last year, local bowlers, Valerie Teo and Shaun Ng missed the perfect game award by just 1 pin, each bowler scoring 299 pinfalls during the tournament.

The Cathay Bowl Junior Classic is expected to attract 144 youth bowlers from all over the world.
