The Olympic Council of Asia has announced that the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Thailand will now be held from November 21 to 30, 2024. The 6th AIMAG was due to take place from February/March, 2024 in Bangkok and Chonburi.

The decision was made by the OCA in November after receiving a request for postponement from the Thailand National Olympic Committee.

In a letter to the Thailand NOC President, Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon, dated November 17, 2023, OCA Acting Director General, Vinod Kumar Tiwari said: "The OCA would like to inform you that after a series of extensive discussions with the National Olympic Committee of Thailand and the Sports Authority of Thailand, it has been unanimously agreed by all parties to reschedule the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games to be held after the conclusion of the Paris Olympic Games. This will provide the Organizing Committee with more time to better prepare for the Games.

"The exact dates for the rescheduled games will be communicated to all the Asian Federations (AFs), International Federations (IFs), and NOCs in a timely manner by the OCA, taking into consideration the international sports calendar and events for the year 2024."

History of AIMAG: The OCA's Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games is an amalgamation of the Asian Indoor Games and Asian Martial Arts Games. The first Asian Indoor Games was held in Bangkok, Thailand in 2005, the second in Macau, China in 2007 and the third in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2009. The first Asian Martial Arts Games was held in Bangkok, Thailand in 2009. The two events merged to form the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games for the 2013 event in Incheon, Korea. This was recorded as the fourth AIMAG as it incorporated the sports from the first three Asian Indoor Games. The fifth AIMAG was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in 2017.
