12th April, Taoyuan: Li Ying Chi of University of Taipei sealed third position in the Top 3 local qualifying spots of the 1st Formosa International Classic 2024 behind Lin Yi Feng and Lu Kun Yi in first and second at the end of the third block.

Li who was second before the final block of 6 games, managed 1208 to seal third position with an 18-game total of 3811. Overnight local leader, Lu also had a poor final block of 1184 and slipped down to second with 3812. Lin took over top spot with a superb 1328 to take his total of 3843.

In the overseas pool, Yuki Murahama rolled a stunning 1402 final block series to leapfrog into top spot with 4027. Musayyar Bin Khalid of Dotmod, Malaysia remained in second with 4025 after a consistent third block of 1376. Overnight overseas leader anf Musayaar's team-mate, Muhammad Hazim Bin Alihanafiah had a lower final block of 1314 to drop down to third with 4011.

Ahmad Aidil Halim of Penange, Malaysia missed the top bracket to head the 45 qualifiers for Round 1 finals in seventh position with 3867 while Hong Kong's Stanley Lau of Confianza became the first bowler to surpass the 1,400-mark with a stunning 1438 and hauling himself up to eighth with 3835.

With just Squad D to complete their third block, three Taiwanese, Lai Tsung Cheng, Lin Yen-Cheng and Xie Cheng Pu have a real chance to making the top 3 local qualifers provided they could post over 1,300-mark. The Top 3 local and Top 3 overseas with the highest total in the Open Division will skip Round 1 and automatically advance to Round 2 finals.

Qualifiers positioned 7 to 51 (45 qualifiers) will contest Round 1 Finals. In other divisions, those eligible to be classified in the Graded division, the top 29 will qualify for the Graded Finals. The top 16, classified as Seniors will contest the Senior Finals.

The top 32 bowling in the spinner style will have contest the special Spinner Finals while those classified as Youth under 22, will contest the Youth U22 Finals. All finals will be staged over the next two days.
