Malaysian youth girl, Tang Joh Six clinches Classic title |
29th July, Manila: Malaysian youth girl showed her prowess to clinch the PBAP-Bevida Storm International Classic title defeating local favourite R.J. Bautista while Tony Alday and Wu Siu Hong captured the Clssified and Youth titles. |

The 21 year-old from Sarawak, who made the stepladder finals in second, forced top-seed and local favourite, R.J. Bautista in a sudden-death second game in the final match to decide the champion after winning the first 258-247. It was a nail-bitting match when Tang just held on her nerves to win 214-209, her first-ever first title outside the shores of Malaysia. Tang was the 2000 Malaysian National champion.
Tang had ealier won the 2nd match amongst 3rd-seed Jack Wong (176) from Singapore and winner of the first match, Daniel Lim (236) with a superb 256.
In the first stepladder match amongst 5th-seed and AVIVA Asian Bowling Tour Malaysia leg champion, Paulo Valdezx (171), 5th-seed Yap Seok Kim (190) from Singapore and 6th-seed Daniel Lim, it was Daniel who comfortably won with 225. |

Malaysia's Zulmazran Zulkifli missed the the cut for the stepladder finals finishing 7th in the 8-game semifinals with 1658 with Chinese Taipei's Cheng Chi-Jung (1652) in 8th. Choy Poh Lai (MAS-1634) and Cecilia (CES) Yap (PHI-1634) tied for 10th positions.

Meanwhile, first block leader, Wu Siu Hong captured the Youth title when he finished top of the 16 finalist with 1699 pinfalls ahead of 32ng Philippines Open Youth champion, Frederick Ong on 1654 while Markwin Tee took third spot with 1627.
In the Classified division, local Filipino, Tony Alday bagged the title after he won all his matches in the stepladder finals. Seeded 4th, he took the first match knocking off 5th-seed Cheche Abrantes (166) and 6th-seed Brian Chua (181) with an impressive 228. In the next match, Alday won again ousting 2nd-seed Tang Joh Six (203) and 3rd-seed Nestor Berroya (205) with yet another impressive 234. Alday then went on to bag the title defeating top-seed Jojo Canare (166,192) with 201,199. |

Malaysia, Philippines occupies two-thirds of semifinals places |
27th July, Manila: Malaysian and Filipino bowlers occupied two-thirds of the available 24 places in the semifinals of the PBAP-Bevida Storm International Classic at the end of 3 blocks of 8 games qualifying round. |

First block leader, Arnold Lecaros of TBAM-Prima, scored an astonishing 1772 in the final 8 games third block to regain the lead with a total score of 5077. But Lacaros only held a slight lead over Rowen Jay Bautista by 9 pins. R.J., as he is popularly known, was the most consistent of the field of 74 bowlers to maintain second position on a total of 5068.
AVIVA Asian Bowling Tour Philippines Leg 1st runner-up, Cecilia (Ces) Yap, who dropped from 3rd to 6th after her second block, moved back up to 3rd with a total of 5063.
The biggest mover of the day was Malaysia's Alex Liew, who also knocked down 1772 to move up from 11th to 4th overall on a total of 5059. Chinese Taipei's youth bowler, Yang Nien-Hua took 5th spot with a total of 5048. Yang was also the top-seed in the youth division after 24 games. |

Filipino Sandy Cotoco (5018) finished 6th ahead of second block leader, Wu Siu Hong (5011) from Hong Kong in 7th. The three Malaysians Ben Heng (8th-5005), Zulmazran Zulkifli (9th-4990) and spinner, Tang Joh Six (10th-4970) rounded up the top 10 places. The top 24 qualfied for the semifinals which will be played tomorrow. The top 3 will then make the cut for the stepladder finals.

Meanwhile, Taipei's Yang Nien-Hua took over top spot in the youth division when he amassed a total of 5048 at the end of the qualifying rounds. Yang leads a field of 16 youth into the finals with second block leader, Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong in 2nd on a 5011 total.
Third place went to 32nd Philippines Open youth champion, Frederick Ong of PBAP-Bowlmart with 4871. All three also made the cut for the seimifinals in the Open division.
In the Classified division, Chinese Taipei's Dominic Dee continued to lead the pack with 4912, a comfortable 51 pins ahead of Filipino lass, Cecilia Yap who finished 2nd with 4861. Malaysian spinner bowling for CPS Bowl in Sabah, Tang Joh Six did well to take 3rd spot after lying in 22nd in the first block and 8th in the second. |

26th July, Manila: 2001 Asian Ranked No. 1, Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong took over the lead in both the Open and Youth divisions of the PBAP-Bevida Storm International Classic at Peral Bowling Center after 16 games. |

The 19 year-old student from Hong Kong was devastating in the second block starting on a 278 in the first game then went on to record 734 in his first 3-games series. Wu eventually rounded off a fantastic day scoring 1852 to take over the lead. Wu was 21st yesterday on a lowly score of 1591 but made up enormous grounds to total 3443 pinfalls.
Local challenger, R.J. Bautista could not keep pace with Wu but maintained second position 55 pins away on 3388. First block leader, Arnold Lecaros was relegated to third with a total score of 3355.
The Malaysian pair of Zulmazran Zulkifli (3345) and Ben Heng 3342) were hot on the heels of the leaders moving up from 13th and 14th to 4th and 5th respectively. |

Wu who was fourth yesterday, also took over the lead in the Youth division with another fine showing scoring 3443. 2002 All Stars Youth Champion, Yang Nien-Hua from Chinese Taipei maintained second with 3309 while Filipino Jeremy Posadas moved from 11th to third with 3193. 32nd Philippines Open Youth champion and overnight leader, Frederick Ong dropped to 4th on 3111.
In the Classified division, Chinese Taipei's Dominic Dee held on to the lead with another superb second block of 8 games on 3241, 23 pins ahead of Filipino, Art Dacumos who scored 3218.
The biggest move seen in this tournament was probably local lad, Richie Go. Richie was in 29th place in the first block but his 1588 in the second moved him up to third. |

Arnold Lecaros holds slender lead in first block |
25th July, Manila: Local Filipino, Arnold Lecaros held on a slender lead over fellow countrymen, R.J. Bautista by just 26 pins after the 1st block of 8 games of the PBAP-Bevida International Classic at Peral Bowling Center. Lecaros had lines of 221, 170, 252, 174, 225, 242, 232 and 212 to score a total of 1728. |

Just 26 pins behind Lecaros came Rowan Jay Bautista, or more popularly called R.J., downed 1702 to take second spot. The 25 year-old businessman from Manila who led from the first 5 games lost the lead to Lecaros going into the sisth game. Despite finishing strongly in the last, Lecaros just hung on to the selnder lead.
AVIVA Asian Bowling Tour Philippines leg runner-up, Cecilia Yap did well to take third spot with a total of 1696 which included a handicap of 64 pins. Malaysia's Choy Poh Lai took 4th spot with 1679, also with 64 pins handicap.

Meanwhile, last year Philippines Open champion, Frederick Ong shared the lead of the youth division with Chinese Taipei's Yang Nien-Hua when both of them scored 1650 to tie for first place. Amielyn Sisperez finished third 58 pins adrift on 1592 while 2001 Asian Ranked No. 1, Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong finished 4th, just one pin behind Sisperez.
In the Classified division, Chinese Taipei's Dominic Dee led the pack of 71 bowlers with a superb 1660 but only just 28 pins ahead of Filipino lass, Cecilia Yap who scored 1632 over the 8-games first block.
The bowlers will continue their second block of 8 games tomorrow and then a final block of 8 games completing the 24 games preliminary rounds. The top 24 from the Open and Classified and the top 16 from the Youth divisions will make the cut for the semifinals scheduled for Thursday, 28 July. |
