Impressive performance by Swedish pair

30th June, Kuching, Sarawak: The first Swedish pair of Noel Torgersen Haglund and Robin Noberg put on an impressive performance by topping the Boy's Doubles Squad 1 of the 2026 IBF World Youth Bowling Championships followed by Finish pair of Juho Vuoppola-Roni Leskinen in second and the American pair of Dawson Peterson-Linden Jordan in third.

The pair from Peru, Andres Marroqin and Daiki Eda had a scintillating start with 269 in their opening game to lead the first Canadian pair of Chase Mcvicar and Matys Bibeau by 23 pins. Vietnam's only pair of Gia Dang Nguyen Phuc and Khoi Tran Hoang did well with 245, just one pin away in third.

Vietnam added a strong second game of 223 to immediately take over the lead with the first Czechia pair of Adam Haxa and Vit Jiriste rolling a superb 258 to move into second.

Hong Kong's first pair of Louis Lam and Dylam moved up to third while the Swedish pair and the American pair shared third spot. The Swedes added a stunning 277 in their third game to leapfrog into the lead followed by USA 1 in second and Hong Kong 1 dropping one spot down to third.

Sweden was on a roll adding another big game of 268 in the fourth to stretch their lead to 81 pins. USA 1 also did well to stay in second as the first Korean pair of Bae Junghun and Jo Mingeon moved ahead of Hong Kong 1.

The leader only had one low game in the sixth but were consistent throughout the block to end the qualifying round in the lead with 2240. Finland 1 finished off with 245 to snatch second position with 2189 as USA 1 settled for third with 2145.

Hong Kong 1 finished fourth with 2140 while the first Thai pair of Rattapon Maliwan and Peemmakorn Samerjai rounded out the top five with 2121. The second Boy's Doubles squad will take to the lanes tomorrow at 9:00am local time.

The top 16 with the highest pinfalls from the combined scores of the two squads will advance to the head-to-head Matchplay Round-Robin style matches with 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss in two groups. The top two with the highest points from each group will proceed to the Doubles Semi-finals.
