Mack-nificent perfect man the Super Classic champion |
22nd March, Singapore: Tim Mack of USA who shot a perfect game in the qualifying rounds, was magnificient when he ousted Kimmo Lethonen of Finland 257-196 in the final stepladder match to win the 15th Super Classic title this afternoon at Cathay Bowl, SAFRA Tampines. |

Tim, who finished top-seed after the 12 games semifinals earlier, was the only bowler to score the perfect game during his third block qualifying rounds yesterday morning. Tim won S$100,000 for his 57th perfect game in his bowling career.
In the first stepladder match between second-seed Kimmo Lethonen and third-seed Biboy Rivera from the Philippines, Kimmo easily disposed off the Filipino 235-187 before the match with Tim.
The American proved too strong for Kimmo who eventually took the crown with a comfortable win. Tim added S$15,000 to the S$100,000 perfect game while Kimmo settled for S$7,600. Biboy Rivera took home S$4,700 for his effort finishing third. |

Asian Ranked No. 1 and Busan Games triple Gold medalist, Remy Ong who was lying second at the half way mark just missed the cut for the stepladder finals by 10 pins to finished 4th with 2642. World Tenpin Masters champion, Tore Torgerson of Norway was 5th with 2567 while the AVIVA ABT 2002 Hong Leg champion Chester King of the Philippines took 6th spot with 2562.
Lin Chin Hsing (2546), Jeremy Fang (2530), Tsai Ting Yun (2524) and Cheng Chao Yu (2508) finished 7th to 10th positions respectively.

Taipei bowlers lead field of 36 into semifinals |
21st March, Singapore: Chinese Taipei finished 1-2 to lead the field of 36 qualifiers into the semifinals of the 15th Super Classic at Cathay Bowl, SAFRA Tampines at the end of the three blocks with leader Tsai Ting Yun in pole position and Kao Hai Yuan in second while Filipino Biboy Rivera came in third. |

Tsai who lead in both the first and second block continued his fine form to score 2124 in the third block for a grand total of 6427 and averaging an impressive 214.23. He was 39 pins ahead of fellow-countrymen, Kao Hai Yuan who made up from 6th position after the second block to join Tsai into the semifinals in second. Kao scored 6388 total.
The consistent Filipino and Busan Asian Games Doubles Gold medalist, Biboy Rivera maintained third with and just 1 pin behind Kao while Finland's top international, Kimmo Lethonen did well in fourth with 6381.
The best of the female participant was three-times Asian Ranked No. 1 and AVIVA ABT Grand Slam champion, Shalin Zulkifli of Malaysia took 5th spot with 6314. She was 11th in the 1st block, made up three notches to 8th in the second and finally 5th after the completion of the qualifying rounds. |

World Ranking Masters and 2nd Vitenam Open champion, Jennifer Tan was the best of the local finishers taking 6th position with 6275 followed by Malaysia's Azidi Ameran with 6265 in 7th. Leader of Squad B, Tan Eng Siong of Singapore (6264) and AVIVA ABT Hong Kong Leg champion, Chester King (6234) completing the top 10 in 9th and 10th respectively.
The top 36 bowlers will bowl in tomorrow's (22nd March) 10 games semifinals with the top 3 finishers making the stepladder finals.

Tim Mack bags Perfect Game in first game of Day 3 qualifying |
21st March, Singapore: Tim Mack of USA scored a perfect game in the first game of Day 3 qualifying rounds of the 15th Super Classic at Cathay Bowl, SAFRA Tampines this morning to win S$100,000. The 31 year-old Bowler of the Year 2002, who missed by 1 pin in 1998 and 2001 finally managed the achieve the feat and his 57th of his career. |

Tim Mack shook the whole bowling centre awake when he achieved the 300 pinfalls within 25 minutes from the opening of Day 3's tournament. The 31 year-old right-handed hook bowler is a familiar face in Cathay Bowl's Super Classic Tournament. In both 1998 & 2001, he had gone home with regret after missing the Perfect Game Award by just 1 pin. However, this year he has finally had his "revenge" when his last throw won him his 57th Perfect Game in his 26 year bowling career.
The Perfect Game Award of S$100,000 in cash will be awarded solely to him if no other bowlers manage to repeat this feat for the rest of the tournament.

Tsai Ting Yun continues to lead after second block |
20th March, Singapore: First block leader, Tsai Ting Yun from Chinese Taipei continued to lead a field of 115 bowlers in the 15th Super Classic at Cathay Bowl SAFRA Tampines after the second block with Filipinos Chester King in second and Biboy Rivera in third. |

Tsai, who lead the first block with 2144 maintained his lead after the second block with another superb 2159 taking his total to 4303. AVIVA ABT Hong Keg champion and a Gold medalist in the Busan Asian Games, Chester King moved up from 10th in the first block to narrow the gap from the leader to just 29 pins with a score of 4274.
His Busan Asian Games Doubles Gold medalist partner, Biboy Rivera maintaned third position with a score of 4229 a further 45 pins away.
Finland's top bowler Kimmo Lethonen, who was second yesterday, dropped to fourth with 4198 while World Ranking Masters champion, Jennifer Tan improved from 8th to 5th with a fine 2113 in the second block and 4188 total. |

Taipei's Kao Hai Yuan (4187) also improved three notches to 6th followed by local Singaporean David Wong (4161) in 7th. Three-times Asian Ranked No. 1 and AVIVA ABT Grand Slam champion, Shalin Zulkifli (4158) recovered well to improve her position from 11th to 8th while Squad B 2nd block leader, Tan Eng Siong (4126) of Singapore finished 9th. Taipei's top female bowler, Hong Shu Chun (4108) took up the top 10th.
The bowlers will bowl a final 10 games in the third block tomorrow (21st March) when the top 36 finishers will make the cut for the semifinals on Saturday. At the end of the semifinals, the top 3 bowlers will qualify for the stepladder finals.

19th March, Singapore: Busan Asian Games Doubles Bronze medalist, Tsai Ting Yun from Chinese Taipei lead the first block of the 15th Super Classic at Cathay Bowl SAFRA Tampines with Finland's Kimmo Lethonen in second and Filipino Biboy Rivera in third. |

Tsai, who also won the Men's Team Bronze medal at the Busan Asian Games, recorded lines of 193, 236, 224, 213, 222, 224, 185, 223, 201 and 223 for a total score of 2144 just 6 pins ahead of Finland's top bowler, Kimmo Lethonen on 2138. Kimmo also scored the highest game of 268 in his 9th game on day 1.
Philippines' Biboy Rivera did well for third spot with 2119 and 19 pins away from Kimmo while another Taipei spinner, Chen Te Nung in fourth with 2117. Former World Cup champion, Tom Hahl was the best of the local finishers taking 5th spot with 2106 followed by Ku Ching Ho in 6th with 2101.
Singapore youth, Faizal Chew impressed with 2083 for 7th place while World Ranking Masters champion, Jennifer Tan in close company in 8th with 2075. |

The bowlers will bowl the next 10 games in the second block tomorrow (20th March) and the final 10 games on Friday (21st March). The top 36 finishers will make the cut for the semifinals on Saturday. At the end of the semifinals, the top 3 bowlers will qualify for the stepladder finals.
