Tim Mack bags Men's Masters title

6th June, Bahrain: 15th Super Classic champion, Tim Mack of USA bagged the 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain International Bowling Championship Men's Masters title with a score of 5589 in the Round-Robin finals ahead of Norway's Tore Torgerson in second and Qatar's Abdulla Al-Qatan in third.

Tim Mack who lead the semifinals yesterday with a score of 3795 to giving the American a hefty 252 pins lead, scored 1794 and winning 5 out of the 8 games Round-Robin finals to take the title. Sweden's Tore Torgerson who was second yesterday, could not over-power the American and finished second with a total of 5417.

Bahrain's Abdulla Al-Qatan took third spot with 5280 followed by Mexico's Mario Quintero, who did well to take fourth with 5224. Qatar's Saeed Al-Hajri took fifth spot on a total score of 5184 followed by Kuwait's Ayad Alamiri (5070) in 6th.

Qatar's Nasser Al-Romihi (4999) finished 7th ahead of Youth Masters champion, Yousif Falah (4997) from Bahrain in 8th place.

Tim Mack continues lead in semifinals

5th June, Bahrain: 15th Super Classic champion, Tim Mack of USA continued to lead in the semifinals of the 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain International Bowling Championship with a score of 3795 over another 8 games.

Tim Mack who lead the Masters finals yesterday with a score of 1922 scored 1873 in today's semifinals for a total of 3795 to give the American a hefty 252 pins lead. Sweden's Tore Torgerson who was fifth yesterday, move up to second spot with a total of 3542 with top qualifier, Bahrain's Abdulla Al-Qatan maintaining in third with 3515. Another mover was Qatar's Saeed Al-Hajri in fourth with 3442 from 8th place.

Youth Masters champion, Yousif Falah (3427) from Bahrain finished 5th, Qatar's Nasser Al-Romihi (3426) 6th, Kuwait's Ayad Alamiri (3398) 7th and Mexico's Mario Quintero (3381) making the final top 8 position for the next round.

The top 8 will bowl another 8 games Round-Robin to determine the Men's Champion of the 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain International Open.

Kirsten Penny captures second title in Asia

5th June, Bahrain: 29th Thai Open champion, Kirsten Penny captured her second title in Asia this year after winning the 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain championship Ladies division ahead of Sweden's Linda Haglund in second and Nadia A. Akeel in third.

The reigning European champion who qualified second, took the title scoring a 1336 winning 3 out of six games in the Round-Robin finals. Kirsten who led the Round 1 had accumulated 1664 to give her a total of 3000 pinfalls. Second was Sweden's Linda Haglund who totalled 2998 just 2 pins away from Kirsten.

Bahrain's Nadia A. Akeel, who finished second in the Youth finals, took third spot with a total fo 2816 ahead of Hetherland's Farida Pascoal in fourth with 2676.

Philippines' Alma Sulaiman completed her finals in 5th place with 2493 followed by Nasha King from Mauritius in 6th spot.

Meanwhile 15th Super Classic champion, Tim Mack of USA lead a strong field of 32 bowlers into the semifinals with a score of 1922 over the 8 games Men's Masters Round 1 finals.

The prolific bowler, who scored a perfect game in the Super Classic to win S$100,000, is aiming to pocket the USD20,000 on offer here in the on-going championship. Tied in second 66 pins from Tim were Ayad Alamiri of Kuwait and top qualifier in the preliminary rounds, Abdulla Al-Qatan of Qatar with a score of 1856. The duo were 46 pins ahead of local youth, Yousif Falah in fourth with 1810. Yousif who had four days ago bagged the Youth Masters title, hopes to put up a strong challenge to the more senior and experienced bowlers for the title.

Norway's Tore Torgerson (1801), Martin Larsen (1779) from Sweden, Mario Quintero (1764) of Mexico and Qatar's Saeed Al-Hajri (1758) took 5th to 8th positions respectively while Bahrain's Aziz Jaffar (1714) and Qatar's Khalifa Khalid (1704) finished in the top ten in 9th and 10th spots.

The top 16 have made the cut for the semifinals which will be played tomorrow when the top 8 at the end of the semifinals will qualify for the final round.

Overseas bowlers take onto the lanes in qualifying rounds

2nd June, Bahrain: Qualifying rounds of the 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain International Bowling Championship got serious as overseas bowlers Tore Torgerson of Norway and England's Kirsten Penny took second spots in the men's and ladies division of the table on Day 14.

Torgerson, the 2002 Tenpin Masters and 1995 AMF World Cup champion scored 753, 746 and 689 to total 2188 for an average of 243.11 to take second spot, just 31 pins behind the current leader, Abdulla Al-Qatan of Qatar. 1999 AMF World Cup champion, Ahmed Shaheen Al-Murikhi dropped to third on 2156 while Ahmed Al-Marri of UAE finished fourth with 2140.

Saeed Al-Hajri followed next in fifth on 2138 with A. Aziz Jaffar dropping one spot to sixth. Sweden's Martin Larsen, who took to the lanes immdeiately on his arrival, did well to score 2129, just 2 pins behind A. Aziz Jaffar in 7th.

2002 Singapore Open champion, Mubarak Ali of Qatar qualified in 8th spot with 2124 while Bahrain's Ahmed Al-Jabbar and UAE's Naif Uqqab Abdulla finished 9th and 10th respectively.

In the ladies' division, 29th Thailand Open champion, Kirsten Penny from England also stormed into the qualifying table with a superb 1854 to occupy second spot, just 13 pins behind current leader Nadia A. Akeel of Bahrain. The reigning European champion downed 685, 603 and 566 in her 9-game series.

Swedish lass, Linda Haglund put up a strong showing to take third spot with 1801 dislodging Philippines' Alma Sulaiman into fourth place.

Another Filipino lass, Luzviminda Meneses impressed to finish fifth on 1743 followed by Nasha King of Mauritius with a score of 1725. Local bowlers, Rose Ateeq and Yasmine A. Akeel were both relegated to 6th and 7th respectively.

Qualifying will continue tomorrow, 4th June and the Masters finals for the men and ladies division will take place on the 5th and 6th June, 2003.

Local youths take top five positions in Masters finals

1st June, Bahrain: Yousif Mohd Falah lead a field of local youths in the 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain International Bowling Championship Youth Masters finals with an impressive 1807 pinfalls over 8 games ahead of Nadia A. Akeel and Sami A. Noor in second and third respectively.

The 18 year-old Yousif, who finished sixth after making the semifinals of the AVIVA Asian Bowling Tour first leg in Malaysia in March this year, took the youth title unchallenged when he downed 236, 203, 222, 254, 254, 205, 228 and 205 for a total 1807 and averaging 225.88.

Yousif was 121 pins ahead of second-placed Nadia A. Akeel who knocked down 1786 with Sami A. Noor in third with 1704. Ahmed Al-Bastaki and Issa A. Jabbar took 4th and 5th spots to complete the top 5 places dominated by the local youths.

Emerson P. Gotencio from the Philippines was the best non-Bahrain bowler to finish 6th with 1449.

Meanwhile, Qatar bowlers maintained their domination in the Men's qualifying table occupying 1-2 positions before the start of the Masters. Abdulla Al-Qatan topped the table with 2219 followed by teammate, and 1999 AMF World Cup champion, Ahmed Shaheen Al-Murikhi in second with 2156 while Ahmed Al-Marri of UAE took over third spot with 2140 from Saeed Al-Hajri of Qatar dropping to 4th with 2138. A. Aziz Jaffar, who scored the perfect game earlier, move up one spot to 4th dislodging 2002 Singapore Open champion, Mubarak Ali to 5th.

In the ladies' division, there was no change in the leaderboard with Nadia A. Akeel of Bahrain maintaining her top position followed by Alma Sulaiman of the Philippines in second and another local, Rose Ateeq in third.

Qatar bowlers dominate qualifying on Day 10 in Bahrain championship

29th May, Bahrain: Qatar bowlers dominated the Men's qualifying table of the 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain International Open Bowling Championship by taking up the top four positions on Day 10 with Abdulla Al-Qatan topping the table with 2219 ahead of teammate and AMF World Cup champion, Ahmed Shaheen who scored 2154.

Abdulla, a member of the Qatar national team, had series 754, 733 and 732 for a total of 2219 for an impressive average of 246.56. Hot on his heels came 1999 AMF World Cup champion, Ahmed Shaheen Al-Murikhi with 2154. Sixteen pins away in third came Asian Championship Gold medalist, Saeed Al-Hajri with 2138 while Singapore Open champion, Mubarak Ali took up fourth spot with 2124.

Local lass, Nadia A. Akeel who lost the lead a few days ago, regained the top position in the women's division when she downed 1867, 80 pins more than former leader Alma Sulaiman from the Philippines who scored 1787. Third spot was occupied by another local, Rose Ateeq of Bahrain with 1708.

leader when he scored 2030, a comfortable 225 pins ahead of Issa A. Jabbar who scored 1805 while Ahmed M. Al-Bastaki took third spot with 1777.

A. Aziz Jaafar maintains pole position in 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain championship

26th May, Bahrain: A. Aziz Jaafar of Bahrain maintained pole position in the 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain International Bowling Championship qualifying round ahead of Ahmed Al-Mohanadi and Mubarak Ali both from Qatar.

A. Aziz Jaafar, the local bowler from Bahrain scored 2115 over the 3 series of 4 games each to top Men's division ahead of two Qatar bowlers, Ahmed Al-Mohanadi who downed 2081 for second and Mubarak Ali one pin away in third.

Another local bowler, Yousif M. Falah who did well to make the semifinals of the AVIVA Asian Bowling Tour Malaysia leg in March, took fourth position with 2076. 2002 Singapore International Open champion, Bandar Al-Shafi of Qatar dropped to fifth with 2058 followed by Ayad Al-Amiri from Kuwait in sixth with 2054.

In the women's division, Filipino lass Alma Sulaiman took over the lead with 1785 from Rose Ateeq of Bahrain who scored 1708 for second spot. Third position went to earlier leader Nadia A. Akeel on 1693.

In the Youth division, Sami A. Noor of Bahrain occupied top spot with 1742 with Issa A. Jabbar in second with 1730 and Abdullah Bushnaq from Saudi Arabia with 1696.

A. Aziz Jaafar tops qualifying round in 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain championship

26th May, Bahrain: A. Aziz Jaafar of Bahrain topped the qualifying rounds of the 2nd Kingdom of Bahrain International Bowling Championship by just one pin ahead of Bandar Al-Shafi while Hussain G. Hussain scored the first perfect game.

A. Aziz Jaafar, the local bowler from Bahrain scored 2059 over the 3 series of 4 games each to top Round 1 ahead of Qatar's Bandar Al-Shafi, the 2002 Singapore International Open Masters champion by one pin on 2058.

Third place went to Kuwait's Ayad Al-Amiri with 2054. Both Aziz and Bandar missed the perfect game by just one pin only.

Another local bowler, Ahmed A. Jabbar finished fourth with 2051 followed by AVIVA ABT Malaysia leg semi finalist, Yousif M. Falah of Bahrain with 2016 in fifth while 2002 Malaysian International Open champion, Saeed Al-Hajri of Qatar took sixth spot with 2012.

In the women's division, locals dominated with Nadia A. Akeel taking pole position with a score of 1693 ahead of second-place Rose Ateeq with 1673. Third spot went to Yasmine A. Akeel with 1642.

In the Youth division, Ahmed M. Al-Bastaki of Bahrain occupied top spot with 1687 with Abdullah Bushnaq from Saudi Arabia in second with 1637 and Mohammed Al-Shetti of Bahrain in third with 1627.
