35th MWA Thailand International Open
Rules & Regulations
  1. ORGANIZATION AND SANCTION
    This tournament is organized by the Thai Tenpin Bowling Association (TTBA) and sanctioned by Asian Bowling Federation and World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA). TTBA and WTBA Playing Rules and Regulations shall apply on matters not covered herein. This tournament is a ranking tournament in Asia and will also be the third leg of the ABF Tour 2009.
  2. ELIGIBILITY
    This tournament is open to all current paid up members of association duly recognized by TTBA and WTBA affiliates.
  3. AVERAGES
    Bowlers shall be classified to the latest TTBA listing of averages. Bowlers without TTBA shall get an average certification from their respective associations signed by their President or Secretary, otherwise they will be classified as class "O" bowlers with an average of 196 for men and 186 for women.
  4. CLASSIFICATION AVERAGES

    Senior

    Male & female who are born in the year of May 1, 1959 or before are eligible to play in this division.

    Youth

    Boys & Girls who are born in the year of January 1, 1987 or after are eligible to play in this division.

    15 & Under

    Boys & Girls who are born in the year of January 1, 1994 or after are eligible to play in this division.

  5. SQUAD TIMES
    If preferred squad times indicated on the entry forms are not available, the Tournament Directors or their Assistants reserve the right to reallocate squad times at their discretion. The Tournament Directors reserve the right to open additional squads.
  6. SUBSTITUTIONS

  7. Substitutions may be allowed provided it is reported to one of the Tournament Directors or their Assistants and duly approved by at least 15 minutes before the time of play.
  8. PARTICIPATION

  9. Bowlers must play in their respective grades or in higher one. Bowlers from a higher grade will not be aligible to play in any of the lower grades. Bowler in the graded division who wishes to participate in the higher or Open division must complete his/her events in their respective grades in which the bowler is officially registered. However, an additional registration fee of Baht 500 is applicable whould the bowler wishes to participate in the higher of Open divisions.
  10. FORMAT

  11. Bowler must play a total of 9 games, made up of 3 series of 3 games, as minimum to qualify for the final rounds. Bowler may attempt as many tries as they wish; only the best 3 series total will be recognized for the final rounds. For youth 15 & under, they must play only 6 games, made up of 2 series of 3 games as minimum to qualify for the final rounds. Bowlers may make as many attempts as they wish; only the best 2 series total will be recognized for the final rounds.

  12. SENIOR MASTERS QUALIFYING
    Handicap for MQ : Men
    50 - 60 years of age : 0
    61 - 70 years of age : 18 pins shall be added to total pinfalls.
    71 years of age and above : 36 pins shall be added to total pinfalls.
    80 years of age and above : 90 pins shall be added to total pinfalls.
    Handicap for MQ : Women
    50 - 60 years of age : 8
    61 - 70 years of age : 14 pins shall be added to total pinfalls.
    71 years of age and above : 20 pins shall be added to total pinfalls.
    80 years of age and above : 60 pins shall be added to total pinfalls.
  13. YOUTH
    This event is open to all bowlers below 22 years of age as at January 2009 (born in 1987 and after).
    Handicap for MQ: Girls
    Youth A : 9 pins per game
    Youth O : 9 pins per game
  14. YOUTH 15 OR UNDER
    This event is open to all bowlers who are below 15 years of age as at January 2009 (born in 1994 and after).

  15. VERIFICATION OF SCORE
    It is the responsibility of each bowler and/or the team captain to verify the correctness of each game bowled by signing on the official entry form of each event. Once signed, the score shall stand unless otherwise decided by the Tournament Committee.
  16. REGITRATION OF BOWLING BALLS
    All participants are advised to check that their bowling balls used in the tournament are certified as legal for weight and other specifications before they compete in their events. The onus is on the bowler to ensure that all balls he/she uses are certified legal as above.
    If at any time a bowler is found to have used an illegal ball even if previously certified legal by the Tournament Office, he/she shall be disqualified from the entire Tournament and stripped of all his/her winnings or positions standing and if the Tournament Committee is of the opinion that such usage was deliberate and was intended to cheat, he/she may be further reported to the TTBA Disciplinary Committee or ABF Executive Committee for additional penalization. He/she may also be asked to return immediately to one of the Tournament Directors any awards that may have already been given to him/her.
  17. MASTERS EVENTS
    This event is open to bowlers who have entered and played in the All-Events of their respective grades in the Championship. A bowler who has qualified in his/her respective grade may play in a higher grade. The qualifying scores will be based on 3 series of 3 games.
  18. TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURES
    1. In the event of a tie in the last position in the qualifying round, a one game roll-off will serve as a tie breaker. In case of a further tie a 9th and 10th frame roll-off until the tie is broken.
    2. When a tie occurs for any of the first three (3) positions in the Singles, Doubles, Trios and All Events, the tournament will declare co-winners in the Singles, Doubles, Trios and All Events.
    3. When a tie occurs in the Open Masters for the 1st, 3rd and 6th places, a one (1) game roll-off shall be played. In case of another tie, a 9th and 10th frame shall be played and repeated until the tie is broken.
    4. When a tie occurs in the Senior and Graded Masters for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, a one (1) game roll-off shall be played to determine the positions.
  19. BOWLERS' ATTIRE
    Bowlers who will be playing in the Masters Finals must conform to the uniform as stipulated in the WTBA playing rules.
    1. All ae bowlers in shorts and/or singlets will not be permitted to bowl. Female bowlers may wear half-length slacks.
    2. Bowlers are requested to be dress for their events with a sense of decorum. Rubber bands or socks pulled over trousers/slacks will be disallowed.
    3. No blue denim jeans are allowed during the Masters Finals.
    In the event that the Committee provides bowlers with uniforms, bowlers are required to wear the said uniforms.
  20. SLOW BOWLING
    Bowlers who are in readiness to step on the approach to deliver a ball, shall have the following rights and obligations:
    1. They may claim right of way only over a player moving to the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately to their left.
    2. They shall yield to a player moving to the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately on their right.
    3. Players shall be ready to bowl when it is their turn and shall not delay the start of their approach or delivery if the lane immediately adjacent to them on both the right and left are clear.
    Penalty shall be imposed to bowler(s) who is/are four (5) frames (Singles/Qualifying, Doubles and Masters finals), and two (2) frames (Team Event) slower from the leader not counting the end pair of lanes. The penalty will be forfeiture of score in the next frame.
  21. PROTESTS
    1. Scores:
      Must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Committee wqithin 12 hours of the event, and in the case of an elimination round, before the next round. In the case of the last match of the Grand Finals of the Master event, such protest, if any, should be addressed to the Tournament Committee before prize presentation. No protest made after the prize presentation will be entertained.
    2. Fouls:
      Must be brought to the attention of the Lane Marshall before the delivery of the next ball. No complain made after the 2nd ball has been bowled shall be entertained.
    3. Eligibility:
      Must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Committee within 24 hours of the infrignement or before the next round or prize presentation or whichever is earlier.
  22. SPECIAL NOTES
    1. Bowlers are requested to refrain from swearing on the lanes.
    2. Bowlers shall restrict themselves to their respective lanes and exercise consideration for all participants.
    3. Bowlers wearing soft rubber soles on their non-sliding foot may be barred from further bowling subject to the scrutiny of the Tournament Directors.
    4. Bowlers are not allowed to sand or apply any form of liquid or chemical on the surface of the bowling balls during any block of competition.
    5. The Tournament Directors reserve the right to accept or reject any entry they deem fit.
    6. Any matters arising not covered in these rules shall be delt with by the Tournament Committee whose decision shall be final subject only to the appeal to TTBA. Such appeal should be made in writing and within 48 hours of the desicion by any of the above.
      Nothwithstanding the above, an appeal for THE DECISION OF TTBA may still be lodged with ASIAN BOWLING FEDERATION but through TTBA and within 30 days of TTBA decision.
