Due to the overwhelming response and support from both local and foreign bowlers over the years, the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC), have decided to increase the total prize for this year from the previous RM219,150.00 to RM366,050.00 - a whopping RM146,900 increase!
The substantial increase in prize-money will see the Men's and Women's Open total prize money increased from RM102,000 to RM197,000 (an increase of RM95,000) for the Men's category and from RM46,500 to RM76,000 (an increase of RM29,500) for the women's category.
The top prize for Men's champion will be RM40,000 compared to the previous year of RM35,000 while the first runner-up will win RM25,000 up from RM17,000 and the second runner-up RM20,000 up from RM7,000.
There will also be increases in prize-money from fourth to the 24th positions, where the minimum payout will be RM3,000.
Whilst the Women's Open top prize remains unchanged at RM15,000, the first runner-up will receive an increased prize money of RM10,000 up from RM7,500, the second runner-up will win RM7,500 instead of RM4,000.
There will also be increases in prize-money from fourth to 16th positions, where the minimum payout will be RM2,000.
There are also increase in prize-money in the Milo International Youth Boys' categories where the top three winners will receive an additional RM1,000 to last year's RM4,000, RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively.
Whilst the Girls' Open top prize remained unchanged at RM3,000, there will be increases in all other positions and prize-money will be awarded to the top nine instead of eight in both Boys' and Girls' categories.
The increased prize-money, especially in the Open category will indeed make it worthwhile for foreign bowlers both from Asia and Europe to compete, as it will help them cover their cost for travel.
