First men tour title for Macau

Both started the match evenly with little separating them up to the halfway mark when both rolled a double strike in the fifth and sixth frames. Cheng's miss in the eighth frame proved costly for the Taiwanese as Lee ended with 206 while Cheng managed 188.

Lady luck came to the rescue after Lee was trailing Hong Kong's Rickle Kam by 10 pins in the second semi-final match at the ninth frame. Kam knocked down 9 pins in the final frame and would have taken the match had he spared it but missed it instead to hand the match to Lee.

"I'm so happy to have finally won a tour title," said the 22-year-old member of the Macau national team bound for the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games next week in Incheon, South Korea.

"Cheng has been bowling great these past two days and I knew it would be tough to beat him. I just kept saying to myself that I can beat him and win this title for my country."

Lee had earlier rolled a perfect game when he beat team-mate, Choi Io Fai, 300-167 in Round 2 to reach the semi-finals after edging Hong Kong's Rocky Hui, 219-204 in the opening round.

The runner-up defeated 2013 ABF Tour TOC winner, Yannaphon Larpapharat of Thailand, 247-193 in the first semi-final to face Lee in the final. Cheng was equally impressive when he beat team-mate, Li Min-Jhe, 245-203 in Round 1 and Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong, 218-216 in Round 2.

Meanwhile, Angkana Netvrseth of Thaiand denied Macau a double victory when she comfortably beat Veronica Dias De Souza of Macau, 214-155 in the title match to win her third women's tour title.

Angkana started off with a split in her opening frame but soon found her winning rythmn when she rolled four strikes-in-a-row from frame 4 onwards. By then, her challenger, Dias De Souza already had two opened frames.

Angkana went on to close out the match and sealed victory with 214 as the Macau national youth had another opened frame in the seventh frame ending with a low 155.
