Malaysians dominate Open division qualifying

11th April, Taoyuan: Muhammad Hazim Bin Alihanafiah and Musayyar Bib Khalid of Dotmod dominated the second block of qualifying after finishing one-two in both Squad B and Top 3 overseas qualifiers of the 1st Formosa International Classic 2024.

Muhammad Hazim, who was fourth in the first block with a respectable 1310, notched up the highest 6-games series of 1387 to win Squad B with 12-game tally of 2697. His team-mate, Musayyar, who was ahead of Muhammad Hazim overnight, finished second with 2649, 48 pins behind.

Yuki Murahama of Japan leapfrog from eighth overnight to third in the squad with 2625. Two more Malaysians, Ahmad Aidil Halim and Abang Afiq Yazid Bin Abang Azman completed the top 5 with 2617 and 2581 respectively. Tomoyuki Sasak of Japan, who was second in the squad yesterday, dropped down to tenhth with 2548.

Zhuang Deng Lie of Chinese Taipei continued to lead Squad C with a 12-game tally of 2654 after adding 1289 to his first block of 1365. Two Taiwanese Lu Kun Yi and Li Ying Chi finished second and third with 2628 and 2603 while Maria Jose Rodriguez of Colombia did well to take up fourth with 2539.


Muhammad Hazim Bin Alihanafiah topping Squad C to lead the Top 3 overseas qualifiers

Lu's and Li's efforts put them in first and second spot of the Top 3 local qualifiers, which could earn them a bye and automatically advance to Round 2 finals. Chen Keng Hung, who finished sixth in Squad B, occupied third spot with 2576.

Squad A and D will complete their second block of 6 games today at 4.00pm and 7:30pm local time. Bowlers will end their qualifying rounds with the third block of another six games on Friday 12 April. The finals will be staged on April 13 and 14.
