ABF teams up with Wharf House

13th February, Hong Kong: The ABF Tour has established a comprehensive new strategic alliance with international sports marketing agency Wharf House, under which Wharf House has been appointed to exclusively market the worldwide marketing and media rights for the ABF Tour, including the ABF Tour's flagship event, the Tournament of Champions.

The 3-year appointment, which starts immediately, will also enable the ABF Tour to benefit from a detailed technical analysis, by Wharf House, of its existing sporting and commercial strategies. In addition, Wharf House will assist in devising a range of dynamic initiatives designed to increase the visibility, stature and prestige of the ABF Tour and the sport of tenpin bowling in Asia.

"We are delighted to be able to embark on a new partnership with Wharf House, one which has been specifically tailored to support our sporting and brand-building initiatives" said Sheikh Talal M. Al-Sabah, President of the Asian Bowling Federation.

Echoing these sentiments, Mrs. Vivien Fung, JP, Chairman of the ABF Tour Committee, and Hon. Life President of the Asian Bowling Federation said that "tenpin bowling has, for many years, enjoyed a consistently strong following at all levels of the game, and, looking to the future, our goal is to build on this foundation. Our partnership with Wharf House gives us the perfect platform from which to achieve our goals."

The ABF Tour is an annual series of tenpin bowling tournaments in Asia, and is the official bowling tour of the Asian Bowling Federation, the governing body of tenpin bowling in Asia. The ABF Tour 2009 will feature six tour legs in six major Asian cities, with the top Asian bowlers competing for the opportunity to participate in the elite Tournament of Champions event by accruing qualifying points from each of the tour legs.

The ABF Tour is the only tenpin bowling tour in Asia to confer world ranking points. The ABF Tour 2009 commences on 2 April in Kuwait City and thereafter subsequent Tour Legs will be hosted in Bahrain, Thailand, Macau, Hong Kong and Indonesia. The Tournament of Champions is scheduled to be staged over three days in January 2010.

Wharf House is a boutique international sports marketing agency operating from offices in Singapore and Switzerland, with extensive expertise of commercial rights for many of the world's leading sports properties, and with its own event bidding and event delivery business.
