7th March, Kuching: Team DKI A of Jakarta, Indonesia captured their second title with victory in the Trios event over long oil pattern of the Sarawak Hornbill Team Cup 2024 ahead Malaysia's Team Dotmod in second and Team SCFG A in third.
Diwan Rezaldy, Doubles short oil champion of Marvin and Yeri Ramadona and anchored by Hengki got off the block with a stunning 717 to lead the second squad of the Trios over long oil, 19 pins ahead of Team Sabah Girls. Team DKI A continued to lead the pack with another superb 678 in their second game to retain their lead over Team Dotmod by 11 pins.
Musayar Bin Khalid, Abang Afiq Yazid, Muhammad Hazim and Ahmad Adil started with 673 and added a scintillating 711 to take up second spot as Team Sabah Girls faded off. Muhammad Nur Aiman, Aris Ardila, Raymee Bin Muhd Hussien and ex-international Zulmazran Zulkifli of Team SCFG A moved up to third.
Despite a 653 in their third game, the pace-setter bounced back brilliantly with yet another 726 to seal victory with 2774 pinfalls. Team Dotmod, who were 21 pins adrift before the final game, managed 643 and 641 in their last two games to clinch second position with 2668, 106 pins adrift.

Team SCFG A were contend with a third-place finish with 2573. Team Negeri Sembilan 1 missed the podium by 22 pins after ending in fourth position with 2551. Squad A leader of Hazwan Hasni, Dayang Aida Natasha, Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana and Nazrin Bin Wagiman of Team Dons dropped down to round out the top 5 with 2524 total.
Sunway Megalanes' Johnathan Chan, Matthew Ong, Cheah Yung Ren and Muhammad Hariz Adlan, who was second in Squad A ended up in sixth position with 2506. The best local MSNS-ABAS Mixed team of Lavina Kho Jia Jie, Nur Hazirah Bte Ramli, Ethan Damien Goh and Gordon Tsen Fan Yew finished seventh position with 2492.
The athletes will return by contesting the Trios event over short oil pattern, divided into two squads again. The top 3 finishers from the combined two squads will determine the winners. Competition will shift to the Team of 4 over the short and long oil patterns tomorrow.
