EZ Frenz wins Sabati Cup

5th September, Kuching: EZ Frenz won the inaugural Sabati Cup in the final game from Rilex Ajak in second and Chinese Taipei in third, a day before the start of the qualifying rounds of the Sarawak International Open Bowling Chmpionships 2023.

Home team, ABAS 1 got off the mark with a superb 230 in the opening game of the Bakers' Format Team of 5 special event, 19 pins ahead of Rilex Ajak in second and EZ Frenz in third, a further 3 pins away. Despite another strong second game of 208 by the leader, EZ Frenz closed the gap to 8 pins in second.

Meanwhile, Team Sunway Megalanes, who shot 200 and 207 in their first two games, rolled a sizzling 264 to take over the lead. Chinese Taipei also did well with a superb 234 in their third game to move into second spot.

However, Rilex Ajak bounced back brilliantly with 268 in their fourth game to become the new leader as Chinese Taipei continued to trail in second, 31 pins adrift and Sunway Megalanes slipping down to third.

Rilex Ajak remained in the lead despite knocking down 188 in their fifth game. Chinese Taipei shot a higher game of 212 to reduce the margin to just 7 pins. Both Riex Ajak and Chinese Taipei ended poorly with 160 and 158 allowing EZ Frenz to snatch victory with 220 and a six-game total of 1269.

Rilex Ajak settled for second with 1264, just 5 pins away while Chinese Taipei finished third with 1255. EZ Frenz won RM2,000 as champion, Rilex Ajak and Chinese Taipei took home RM1,000 and RM500 as first and second runners-up.

Yang Amat Berbahagia Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajah Juma'ani Binti Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang, President of Sabati was on hand to present the prizes to the winners accompanied by Mr Sunny Si, President of ABAS. Puan Sri also presented a cheque amounting to RM8,000 to Sarawak Children's Cancer Society (SCCS).
