Host nation, Korea seals Mixed Team gold

18th July, Incheon: Korea finally delivered their first gold medal of the championships by defeating Sweden, 2-1 in the Mixed Team final of the 2024 IBF World Youth Championships in front of a delighted Korean crowd at Fiesta Bowling Center.

Kim Seongtak, Singles bronze medalist, Bae Junghun, Lee Daeun and Kim Boah had to go into the third and deciding match to earn their victory. Korea had an easy win over challenger, Sweden 248-192 in the first match but lost the second match, 201-236.

The Koreans bounced back convincingly with a 267-219 trashing of the Swedes to deliver the first gold medal of the competition. Korea took out Malaysia in the semi-finals, 2-1 to reach the final while Sweden ousted top-seed, Czech Republic, 2-1 in the other semi.

The Czechs topped the Matchplay Round Group A with 15 points to advance. Korea had to defeat USA, 202-176 in the tie-breaker roll-off after both totaled 12 points in the group.
