Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam makes Senior Medal rounds

26th October, Shah Alam: Wan Rohadi B Wan Hassan of Kuala Lumpur topped the Senior Men Singles in Squad B to advance to the medal rounds of the 36th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship while Squad A leader, Shahlawati Mat Yusof of Shah Alam A remained top of the Senior Women Singles.

Host Shah Alam had a great start in the opening squad when Adnan Osman and Shahlawati Mat Yusof topped the Senior Men with a four game total of 828. He rolled lines of 236, 182, 221 and 189. Ex-international, Y.H. Ng of Petaling Jaya finished second with 792.

Othman Ibrahim of Shah Alam B team and New Territories' Chim YP rounded out the top 4 of the squad with 742 and 710 respectively. Mahali Hj Abd Rahman of Bandar Seri Begawan got off the second squad with a superb 277 to lead the field.

But after the second game, Wan Rohadi B Wan Hassan of Kuala Lumpur caught up to him with a sizzling 254 to take over the running. Wan Rahadi ended the squad with 181 to become the top finisher with 831 and will advance to the medal rounds as top seed.


Senior Men Singles Top 4 medal round finalists

Mahali finished second with 808 and advanced to the medal rounds as third-seed while last Asian Intercity Senior Men Singles silver medalist, Zaba Othman of Shah Alam A took third spot with 797. Squad A leader, Adnan Osman of Shah Alam A settled as second-seed for the medal rounds. Zaba Othman took the fourth and final spot of the medal rounds.

Wan Rohadi will face Zaba Othman in the semi-finals while Adnan Osman will meet Mahali Hj Abd Rahman in the other Senior Men Singles semi. The winners of the semi-final matches will proceed to the gold medal match and the loser will be awarded a bronze medal each.

Meanwhile, Shahlawati Mat Yusof of Shah Alam, who topped Senior Women's Singles Squad A with 797, remained unchallenged and will advance to the medal rounds as top seed. Yang Young-Ja, whop topped Squad B with 744, finished second overall.

Salwa Binti Buang of Kuala Lumpur, who finished second in the first squad with 739, and Hjh Sab Hj Jaya of Belait took the fourth and final spot of the medal rounds with 734. Shahlawati will face Hjh Sab in the semi-finals and Yang will meet Salwa in the other semi.

The winners of the semi-final matches will proceed to the gold medal match and the loser will be awarded a bronze medal each. The Women and Men division will contest their Singles preliminaries, divided into two squads. Squad A will take to the lanes later today and Squad B tomorrow morning.
