Keita Oku emerges as champion of 2003 Junior Classic |
21st December, Singapore: Newcomer, Keita Oku of Keppel Club emerged as the 7th Cathay Bowl Junior Classic champion on the final day at Cathay Bowl, SAFRA Yishun with Tan Zhong Hao in second and Lynal Low third. |

Keita, who was fifth going into the semifinals, scored a superb 2248 to romp home the winner with a 70-pin cushion ahead of Tan Zhong Hao on 2178 total. Tan was unlucky not the wrest the title from Keito as he consistently bowl well in both the preliminary rounds and the semifinals after being second most of the way.
Lynal Low settled for third with a total score of 2104 followed by Chiam Yew Koon in 4th with 2048. Leader of the preliminary rounds and favourtie, Chew Faizal could not display the form he had earlier and ended up in a disappointing 5th place with 2046.
Benjamin Hong (6th-2041), Lionel Lim (7th-2036), Ace Chen (8th-2035), Derek Chan (9th-2025) and Vincent Lim Hai Loon (10th-2013) rounded up the top 10 positions. |

Jazreel Tan, who was third in the Junior All Stars championship Under-15 in Kuala Lumpur last week, was the only female to reach the finals and finished a creditable 13th with a score line of 1985.
The 7th Cathay Bowl Junior Classic is organized by Cathay Bowl and sanctioned by the Singapore Tenpin Bowling Congress and held at the Cathay Bowl SAFRA Yishun Country Club.

Chew Faizal leads field of 30 into semifinals |
20th December, Singapore: Singapore national youth squad member, Chew Faizal led the field of top 30 bowlers into the semifinals of the 7th Cathay Bowl Junior Classic at Cathay Bowl, SAFRA Yishun on Day 3. |

The block 1 and 2 leader continued to dominate the preliminary rounds to finish top of the pack with a fine display scoring 1735 in his third block for a grand total of 5183 pinfalls. Chew was a hefty 350 pins ahead of his nearest rival, Tan Zhong Hao who had a total of 4833. Moving to two notches up was Lester Ho from 5th to 3rd with 4732 while overnight 2nd-placed youngster, Joshua Li settled for 4th just one pin behind Lester on 4731.
Also dropping one spot was Keita Oku to 5th with 4706 followed by Izad Ghalid in 6th with 4694.
Brandon Thian (7th-4686), Vis Low Kian Huat (8th-4669), Lionel Lim (9th-4643) and Aloysius Goh (10th-4640) made up the top 10 finishers. |

The top 30 finishers will move on to the semifinals tomorrow, Sunday 21st December. At the end of the semifinals, the top 4 will make the cut for the Stepladder Grand finals. Chew Faizal continues lead after second block preliminary |
19th December, Singapore: Singapore national youth squad member, Chew Faizal continued to lead the pack after the second block of 8 games in the 7th Cathay Bowl Junior Classic at Cathay Bowl, SAFRA Yishun. |

The 20 year-old Singaporean youth had lines of 225, 237, 254, 239, 210, 180, 206 and 214 for a score of 1765 totalling 3448 to continue to lead the pack after the second block of 8 games on Day 2. He was 257 pins ahead of second placed, Joshua Li who totalled 3191.
Tang Zhong Hao of Ken Pro, who was 11th yesterday improved to take 3rd spot with a score of 1646 and a total of 3184. The biggest mover of the day came Keita Oku who finished 4th with a total score of 3182 after lying 21st the day before.
Lester Ho of STBC also did well to moved up from 22nd to 5th with a score of 3167 followed by Vis Low Kian Huat in 6th on 3160 while Amanda Ng dropped from 3rd to 7th with 3159. |

The bowlers will continue their third and final block of 8 games tomorrow, Friday, 20th December where the top 30 finishers will move on to the semifinals on Saturday. Chew Faizal tops first block preliminary rounds |
18th December, Singapore: Singapore national youth squad member, Chew Faizal topped the first block of 8 games of the preliminary rounds in the 7th Cathay Bowl Junior Classic at Cathay Bowl, SAFRA Yishun. |

The youngster recorded lines of 204, 234, 185, 206, 157, 253, 232 and 212 for a total of 1683 to average an impressive 210.4 pinfalls. Chew also scored the highest game of the day with a 253 pinfall in the 6th game of the round. In distant second was Squad B leader, Joshua Li of SICC scoring of 1613. Singapore's national youth member, Amanda Ng was outstanding and the only female bowler to outclass a few male conterparts taking third spot with 1612. Fourth place went to Brandon Thian who knocked down 1603 in the 8-game first block.
Squad A leader, Broncson Tan settled for fifth spot just one pin away on 1602. Jeremy Goh (6th-1575), David Candra (7th-1569), Chew Helmi (8th-1567), Aeson Tan Wei Shin (9th-1560) and Roger Ni (10th-1554) completed the top 10 on Day 1. |
