5th March, Taoyuan: Lai Tsung Cheng of Chinese Taipei topped the second squad of the 2nd Formosa International Bowling Classic 2025 qualifying rounds ahead of Bong Kihow of Hero Bowling, Malaysia in second and Man Ka Ho of Hong Kong, China third.
Chen Te Shuan of Chinese Taipei started a cracking pace with an opening game of 240 followed by another Taiwanese, Liao You Sheng in second with 233. A third Taiwanese, Lai and Abang Afiq Yazid of Malaysia in close company. When Chen managed only 172, Lai took advantage of it to move into the lead with 219.
Chen slipped behind Bong Kihow of Sunway Megalanes, Malaysia who took over second spot. A third game of 210 allowed Lai to remain in the lead. Bong matched strides with 221 to trail the Taiwanese by just four pins while a fourth Taiwanese, Tseng I Wei moved up to third.
The leader went on to end his first block with 227 and 228 for a 5-game total of 1107, 21 pins higher than Squad A leader, Ethan Damien Goh of Malaysia. Bong settled for second with 1085 and Man third with 1074. Chang Hao Hsuan and Singapore veteran, Adam Chew completed the top five with 1074 and 1070 respectively.
