Malaysian women remains in pole position

12th January, Hong Kong, China: PWBA Player of the Year 2024, Sin Li Jane, Siti Safiyah Amirah, Gillian Lim and Singles gold medalist, Natasha Roslan won the 2025 IBF World Cup Team qualifying rounds with 33 points followed by Philippines in second and USA third.

Having won all of yesterday's seven matches, the Malaysian foursome managed four wins but lost two en-route to claiming pole position. Philippines' Marie Alexis Sy, Danielle Lazo, Grace Gella and 2017 World Cup champion, Krizziah Macatula also totaled 33 points to take up second spot.

USA's Bryanna Cote, Jillian Martin, Lauren Russo and two-time World Cup (2002, 2004) champion, Shannon Pluhowsky tied third position with Germany and Macao, China on 27 points each. China's Peng Rui, Xu Lan, Yang Li Yan and Zhang Yu Hong, who were second in the first block, slipped down to share with Singapore on 24 points.

Sweden's Anna Andersson, Victoria Johansson, Singles bronze medalist, Nora Johansson and 2016 World Cup champion, Jenny Wegner, made the cut for the Top 16 round with just six wins for a total of 18 points.

Denmark's Mika Guldbaek, Cecilie Dam, Karen Kaergaard Nielsen and Sofie Kaergaard Nielsen and New Zealand's Sarah Young, Jess Marginson, Christine Rota and Jess Roberts, both missed the cut in ninth and tenth positions with 15 points each.

The men will contest the Top 32 best-of-five Bakers Format elimination round. The winners will proceed to the quarter-finals. The top 8 women qualified for tomorrow's quarter-finals best-of-five Bakers Format elimination round. The winners of the quarter-finals will adjourned to Queen Elizabeth Stadium to contest the semi-finals and final in a pair of specially erected lanes.

The event will be opened to the general public who have applied earlier for free tickets. The semi-finals and final will also be broadcast live over the Pearl TV Station, commencing at 3.00pm local time.
