Singaporeans dominate Men's Senior finals

22nd May, Petaling Jaya: Ex-international and seasoned campaigner, Rick Tan and Paiman Dali of Singapore, finished one-two in the Men's Senior Masters finals of the Kuala Lumpur International Open Bowling Championships underway at Sunway Megalanes.

Malaysia's Nor Hishammuddin Mohd Nordin of Malaysia set a cracking pace with 254 in his opening game to lead 2024 Malaysian Open Senior Masters champion, Paiman Dali of Singapore by seven pins with compatriot, Adam Chew in third, a further 11 pins away in third.

The Malaysian's lead only lasted one game as Dali surged into the lead by adding 201 in his second game with Chew taking over second while Nor Hishammuddin slipped down to third. But the Malaysian bounced back with a brilliant 226 to regain the lead.

Dali moved into second while Rick Tan and Chew stayed closed to the leading duo. Back-to-back big 233 and 227 games from Tan saw the 63-year-old Singaporean taking over the lead with Nor Hishammuddin in second and Dali in third.

Tan ended the six-games finals with 191 and 203 to seal victory with 1313. Dali gave Singapore a one-two finish with second position on a 1291 total. Nor Hishammudin settled for third with 1287. Chew and a fourth Singaporean, Rahim Kassim completed the top 5 with 1271 and 1224 respectively.

Tan took home RM6,000 as champion leaving RM3,000 to Dali and RM1,500 to Nor Hishammuddin as first and second runners-up. Tan Sri Mohammad Noor, President of KLTBA on on hand to present the trophies and prize money to the top 3 winners.

The Women's Senior Masters finals will be contested after lane maintenance whilst the qualifying rounds for other divisions will continue through to May 23 for Youth Graded, May 24 for Youth Open and May 25 for Graded and Open divisions.
