Lead changes hand on final qualifying day

19th June, Petaling Jaya: 2026 Singapore Open first runner-up, Tun Hakim of Malaysia Podium squad took over the lead of the Mixed Open qualifying standings of the Kuala Lumpur International Open Bowling Championships 2026 while Siti Safiyah Amirah remained top of the Women's division.

Tun Hakim, who was fifth overnight, improved his lower 3-game series of 724 to a sizzling 786 to take his 6-game tally to 1564 to go top of the standings. Defending champion, Izz Naqiuddin Putera of Malaysia Podium squad slipped down to second with 1547.

Early leader, Wesley Low of USA also slipped down to third position with 1536. Megat Zaqrul Haiqal of FND Empire/UPM and Musayyar Khalid of Sunway Megalanes/Hero Bowling rounded out the top five with 1520 and 1518 respectively.

Overnight leader of the Women's division, Siti Safiyah Amirah of Malaysia Podium squad, remained in the lead with 1514 followed by team-mate, Faten Najihah Ahmad Faik in second with 1502. Natalie Chong of Program Pelapis MSN, who was second, dropped to third with 1460.

Manon Ishda of Japan and Natasha Roslan of Malaysia Podium squad competed the top five with 1456 and 1451. Nur Syazwani Sahar of Malaysia Podium squad, two Koreans Han Yoon A of Korea/Storm and Jang Min A, Mizuki Nakashima of Japan and Nur Anis Anisya of Malaysia made up the top 10 Women qualifiers.

The current cut at 30th position in the Mixed pool went to 2025 SEA Games Team bronze medalist, Tsen Fan Yew of Malaysia Podium squad with 1413. Missing the cut in 31st position was Haru Suzuki of Japan with 1412, just one pin off the cut. Also missing the cut in 32nd position was Gillian Lim of Malaysia Podium squad with 1408, five pins off 30th position.

Qualifying will end late this evening at 10:30pm. The top 10 women and qualifiers positioned 1 to 30 in the Mixed pool will contest the 8-games Masters finals on Sunday 22.
