2nd July, Kuching, Sarawak: Sweden topped the Boy's Team qualifying round of the 2026 IBF World Youth Bowling Championships with Canada in second and Romania third as strong teams dramatically missed the cut for the next round.
Canada had a great start in their opening game with 257 to lead Finland by 11 pins with Russia and United Emirates putting in good games for third and fourth spots. Russia added a superb game of 239 to take over the lead as Sweden moved up to second with an identical 239.
Finland, who started off with 246 and 213, shot a stunning 267 after the third game to take over the running. Hong Kong fired a higher game of 279 to leapfrog into second. Finland held on to the lead for the next two games with Hong Kong and Sweden trading second positions.
Two massive games of 257 and 276 from Canada in the fifth and sixth games saw them move into the lead with Finland still in the hunt in second. Despite managing only 217 in the seventh game, Canada held on to the lead. Sweden continued to trail the lead.
