Malaysians crack into top bracket

8th May, Manama: 2025 IBF World Cup Team champion and 2025 PBA Camelion Championship winner, Tun Hakim and his Malaysian team-mate, Hafiz Zainuddin cracked into the top bracket of the 3rd Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Bowling Tournament qualifying standings in second and sixth positions.

Hakim, who had earlier made the top bracket in fifth, was pushed out into tenth position with 2108. But the Malaysian notched up an improved 1112 series from his lowest 1041 series taking his 10-game aggregate to 2179 and up to second in the standings.

Emirati, Naif Oqab remained unchallenged to sit comfortably in pole position with 2265. Top Bahraini, Yousif Falah slipped one spot down from second to third with 2175 while Mohammed Ismail of UAE took fourth position with 2169. 2022 Amir Cup champion, Tomas Kayhko of Finland finished fifth with 2152.

Newly-crowned 2025 Sonic Classic champion, Hafiz Zainuddin of Malaysia completed the top six with 2118. Khalid Sameer occupied the reserved seventh position as highest ranked Bahraini with 2113. Rashid AlDalhan occupied the reserved highest ranked Bahraini youth with 1868.


Tun Hakim leapfrogging from tenth to second position

The top 8 earned two byes and will automatically advance to Round 3 finals. Mustafa Almousawi of Kuwait headed the second bracket in ninth position with 2117 while the cut for the second bracket in 16th position went to Hassan Alzaabi of UAE with 2033. Qualifiers positioned 9 to 16 earned one bye and will automatically advance to Round 2 finals.

Qualifiers positioned 17 to 34 will contest Round 1 finals with Hong Kong's Ivan Tse heading the pack with 2005. The cut in 24th position went to Noora Sultan of Bahrain with 1992. Noora and Samantha Hannan of England were the two highest female in 25th and 26th positions.

Abdulmajeed Alaslani of Saudi Arabia and Abdulrazzaq Abdulla were the two highest ranked youths in 27th and 28th positions. Shaker Darrai of Bahrain and Khalid Algoud of Kuwait were the two highest ranked Seniors in 29th and 30th positions.

Ahmed Fareed of Bahrain and Emerson Gotencio of Philippines remained as the two highest Early Brid squad qualifiers in 31st and 32nd. The two remaining spots, 33rd and 34th are reserved for the top 2 highest scorers of the one-game Desperado squad which will be held after the last squad of 21:30hrs.
