5th July, Doha: 2017 champion, Jassim Al-Muraikhi of Qatar is eyeing his second title after topping Squad D first 6-games series of the H.H. Emir Cup 2022 in his second attempt to improve his overall standings.

Debutant, Tomas Kayhko of Finland, almost rolled the tournament's first 300, but missed after a stubborn pin-10 refuse to fall leaving him with 299. The Finn was followed by Napat Buspanikonkul f Thailand, 52 pins behind with a superb 247.

Although Kayhko shot 192 in his second game, he managed to remain in the lead. A second Thai, Surasak Manuwong took over second spot with a good 233. Manuwong added a stunning 279 to lead the squad at the halfway mark.

Kayhko slipped down to second, 6 pins behind the Thai while Al-Muraikhi made headway to move into third spot. The Qatari, who made his first attempt in Squad B to take up 15th position overall with a 12-game total of 2427, ended his second attempt with 257, 237 and 200 to take over top spot with 1339.

A good second 6-games series tomorrow will surely move him up the overall standings. Manuwong ended second to the leader with 1337, an improvement over his previous attempt in Squad C. 31st SEA Games Singles silver medallist, Yannaphon Larpapharat of Thailand took third spot with 1262.

The bowlers in this squad who imporved over their previous squad will only find out their final overall standings position after they completed their second series. The final squad of the tournament, Squad E will commence later today at 19.00 hrs local time.
