2021 IBF World Championships
Format
  1. Entry
    Entry for this championship must be made via IBF's online platform Game Day.

  2. Categories
    • Singles (Maximum four athletes per gender per federation)
    • Doubles (Maximum two pair per gender per federation)
    • Trios (Maximum one trios per gender per federation)
    • Team (Maximum one team - 4 athletes, per gender per federation)
    • Mixed Team (Maximum two mixed teams - 2 female + 2 male, per gender per federation)
    • Most Valuable Athlete medal per gender
    • Most Valuable Federation Trophy per gender
    • Most Valuable Overall Federation Trophy (combined male and female)

    If a federation can only send one athlete, then that athlete will only compete in the Singles event.

    If a federation sends two male athletes and two female athletes, then they will enter the Singles, Doubles and Mixed Team event.

    A federation can bring a maximum of eight athletes per gender, if desired, though each event holds a maximum number of participants per federation. Meaning not all eight athletes can compete in the same category. As example; Four could compete in the Singles event and a different four could compete in the Doubles.

    Most Valuable Athlete Medal and Federation Trophy will be earned from positioning NOT pinfall.

    Most Valuable Athlete Medal will be based on any athlete who competes in all four primary medal phases: Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team.

    Most Valuable Federation Trophy per gender will be based on the results of the federation per gender in all five medal phases: Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team and Mixed Team.

  3. Fees
    1. The fee for entry is $250 (US Dollar) per athlete.
    2. There is no fee for coaches and official.

  4. Singles
    1. Round One: All athletes will bowl 10 games of qualifying. Top 32 bowlers qualify for Round Two.
    2. Round Two: 32 athletes are divided into four groups of eight based on the results in Round One. Within each group the athletes will bowl seven games round robin and will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The winner and second place in each group will advance to the quarter final. If there is a tie to advance in a group, one game matches will be played until the tie is broken.
    3. Quarter-final: Winners in groups play second place athletes from Round Two. Matches will be one-game. Winners advance to Semi-final.
    4. Semi-final: Winners from quarter-final play a one-game matches.
    5. Final: Winners from semi-final play a best of two-games match for the Gold medal. A 9th and 10th frame tie-breaker will decide the winner.

  5. Doubles
    1. Round One: All Doubles will bowl 10 games baker of qualifying. Top 32 doubles qualify for Round Two.
    2. Round Two: 32 Doubles are divided into four groups of eight based on the results in Round One. Within each group the Doubles will bowl seven games round robin and will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The winner and second place in each group will advance to the quarter final. If there is a tie to advance in a group, one game matches will be played until the tie is broken.
    3. Quarter-final: Winners in groups play second placed Doubles from Round Two. Matches will be one-game. Winners advance to Semi-final.
    4. Semi-final: Winners from quarter-final play a one-game matches.
    5. Final: Winners from semi-final play a best of two-games match for the Gold medal. A 9th and 10th frame tie-breaker will decide the winner.

  6. Trios
      All trios teams are allowed to have one substitute player on the team. A team may substitute a player between any game in the championship.
    1. Round One: All trios teams will bowl 10 games baker of qualifying. Top 16 teams qualify for Round Two.
    2. Round Two: 16 trios teams are divided into 4 groups of 4 based on the results in Round One. Within each group the teams will bowl three games round robin and will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The winner and second place in each group will advance to the quarter-final. If there is a tie to advance in a group, one game matches will be played until the tie is broken.
    3. Quarter-final: Winners in groups play second place teams from Round Two. Matches will be one-game. Winners advance to Semi-final.
    4. Semi-final: Winners from quarter-final play a one-game matches.
    5. Final: Winners from semi-final play a best of two-games match for the Gold medal. A 9th and 10th frame tie-breaker will decide the winner.

  7. Mixed Team (4)
    1. Round One: All teams will bowl 10 games baker of qualifying. Top 16 teams qualify for Round Two.
    2. Round Two: 16 teams are divided into 4 groups of 4 based on the results in Round One. Within each group the teams will bowl three games round robin and will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The winner and second place in each group will advance to the quarter-final. If there is a tie to advance in a group, one game matches will be played until the tie is broken.
    3. Quarter-final: Winners in groups play second place teams from Round Two. Matches will be one-game. Winners advance to Semi-final.
    4. Semi-final: Winners from quarter-final play a one-game matches.
    5. Final: Winners from semi-final play a best of two-games match for the Gold medal. A 9th and 10th frame tie-breaker will decide the winner.

  8. Team of 4
    1. Round One: All teams will bowl 10 games baker of qualifying. Top 16 teams qualify for Round Two.
