Team DKI A snatches Team of 4 Short Oil victory

8th March, Kuching: Team DKI A, Indonesia snatched the Team of 4 short oil pattern victory in the second squad for their third title at the Sarawak Hornbill Team Cup 2024 as Team Dotmod clinched second and Squad A leader, Team Sunway Megalanes settled for third.

After struggling in the Trios short oil pattern in which DKI A ended in 11th position, Marvin, Diwan Rezaldy, Hengki and Doubles short oil champion, Yeri Ramadona got off the block with a superb 889 to lead a surpised Negeri Sembilan's Team NSTBA 1 by 78 pins.

Despite a lowly 771 in their second game, Team DKI A remained in the lead, albeit their gap reduced to 38 pins. Abang Afiq Yazid, Musayyar Bin Khalid, Ahmad Aidil and Muhammad Hazim of Team Dotmod fired a stunning 862 after an opening game of 760 to trail in second.

The second Team DKI C of Novie Phang, Listea Almira, Cheya Chantika and Demarsya Putri Ariela followed in third. Team DKI A continued to lead the pack after a recovering 805 in their third game as Team Dotmod reduced the gap to 28 pins in second.

The leader needed 759 or more in their final game to overhaul Squad A leader, Team Sunway Megalanes while Team Dotmod had a more daunting task needing 787 or more to beat Team Sunway Megalanes for second overall.

Team DKI A prevailed in their final game with 823 to seal victory with 3288 pinfalls for their third title in the championships thus far. Team Dotmod fired 841 to finished second with 3278, 10 pins shy of the champion. Team Sunway Megalanes settled for third with 3224 from Squad A.

Team Hero Bowling, who was second in Squad A, slipped out of the podium to end up in fourth position overall with 3169 while Team NSTBA 1 completed the top 5 with 3141 total.

The top 36 teams based on their total pinfalls from the six different events made the cut for the Baker 4 Dual Battle event, which will be contested by each team in Bakers Format over six games. The top 3 will be declared the winners of the final event.

The Overall Champion with the highest points tally will also be declared and will stand to take home the top prize of RM10,000. The first and second runners-up will be awarded RM7,000 and RM5,000 respectively.
