Dr Danny Santos, Tournament Director, kicked off the meeting with a roll-call followed by an introduction of the members of the technical committee seated at the head table which included Mr John Janawicz, Technical Delegate responsible for lane maintenance and ball registration and Mr Arun Suppaterawet, Host Tournament Coordinator.
He also announced the members of the Jury of Appeal appointed by Sheikh Talal, namely Mr Michael Seymour, COS of IBF, Ms Suwalai Satrulee, Vice President of ABF and secretary general of TTBA and Mr Bandar Al-Shafi, ABF Exco member and secretary general of Qatar Bowling Federation.
Dr Santos then handed the floor to Mr John Janawicz, who briefed on the lane patterns, namely Long and Medium what will be deployed for this year's championships.
Dr Santos also went through some the important matters pertaining to the championship schedule, the opening and closing ceremonies and rules and regulations. The tournament director also announced that the submission of line-ups for the Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team of 5 will be done online via the official website.
Five events will be contested consisting of Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team of 5 and the Masters. The top 16 men and top 16 women based on their All-Events standings (24 games) will qualify for the Round-Robin Masters Finals to be staged over two blocks of 8 games.
The top 3 men and top 3 women at the end of the Round-Robin Masters finals will advance to the Stepladder Shootout finals to determine the medal winners. The combined All-Events total of the top five bowlers from each country will also be the qualifying criteria for the 2025 IBF World Championships to be held in Hong Kong.
The top 9 men countries and the top 10 women countries from Asian zone (one more than the men because the host, Hong Kong will not be fielding a women team). The official opening ceremony, which will be graced by Shiekh Talal, along with Thai government dignitaries and major sponsors at Blu-O Rhythm & Bowl, Ratchayothin.
This will be followed by a welcome reception hosted by Thai Tenpin Bowling Association at the same venue. The official practice, divided into three squads will be held after the welcome reception. Competition will kick off with the Singles on September 17 and 18, Doubles on September 18 and 19, Trios on September 20 and 21, Team of 5 on September 22 and 23.
The championships will end with the Masters finals on September 24 and 25. Official practice is scheduled for tomorrow, September 16 divided into three squads. Live scoring and live video streaming will be featured throughout the championships.
