Malaysia, Finland delivers Doubles gold

6th July, Kuching, Sarawak: Malaysia's Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee-Adania Mohd Redzwan deliver their first gold medal of the 2026 IBF World Youth Bowling Championships with victory over USA in the Girl's Doubles final as Finland's Juho Vuoppola-Roni Leskinen beat Qatar to win the Boy's gold.

Malaysia's second pair of Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee and Adania Mohd Redzwan dispatched second-seed and arch rival, Erin Klemencic and Elizabeth Teuber of USA, 244-181 and 207-201 in the Girl's Doubles final. The champion had sailed past top-seed and second Swedish pair of Nicole Layrisse and Maja Negberg, 226-192 and 257-144 yesterday.

The first American pair of Erin Klemencic and Elizabeth Teuber also had an easy pass to the final with a 241-199 and 220-189 win over Finland's Emma Palermaa and Stella Lokfrors in the other semi-final match to set up a rematch with the Malaysians.

Sweden topped Group A Matchplay round with 18 points. Finland earned second spot after beating Korea, 215-188 in the one-game two-way tie-breaker when both finished with 12 points a piece in the group. USA and Malaysia finished first and second in Group B with 18 points each.

In the boy's division, Finland's Juho Vuoppola and Roni Leskinen picked up their first gold medal of the championship after beating Qatar's Talal Al Marri and Abdulrahman Al Doseri, 232-216 and 224-199 in the Doub;es final.

In yesterday's first semi-final match, the Qatari pair ousted top-seed, Jaden Wolff and Phil Baumeiser of Germany, 246-226 and 22-215 to advance to the final. Finland eliminated Dawson Peterson and Landin Jordan of USA, 231-227 and 203-182 in two games to take on the Finns.

Germany and USA finished first and second in Group A at the end of the Matchplay round with 16 and 15 points respectively. Finland and Qatar took first and second positions in Group B with 18 and 15 points. Both the top 2 finishers advanced to the semi-finals.

Next up were Boy's Team Final between Australia and Czcehia and the Girl's Team Final between USA and Singapore. The Mixed Team Final will conclude this year's championship.
