13th November, Jakarta: Doubles gold medalists, Park Sang Jin, Choi Won Seok teamed up with Lee Jae Jung and Hwang Dong Wook topped the Men's Team of 4 of the 37th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship with Petaling Jaya taking top spot in the Women's Team of 4.

Jakarta's Charlie Christian, Pradana Yogatama, Paolo M. Hernandez and Patrick M. Hernandez got off to a cracking start with 994 in their opening game to lead Uslan's Park Sang Jin, Choi Won Seok, Lee Jae Jung and Hwang Dong Wook by four pins.

Despite managing a moderate 834 in their second game, the Indonesia quartet held on to their lead. Ulsan had a poor second game of 815 to slip behind Hong Kong's Wang Hui Fung, Choi Kwan Ho Lam Ka Yiu and Wong Chun Ming, who fired a superb 913 after their 893 opener.

But Ulsan bounced back with a sizzling 998 to win the preliminary with 2803 and advanced to the medal round as top-seed. Hong Kong ended with a respectable 897 to seal second spot with 2703. Jakarta held on to third spot with 2641.


Men's Team of 4 top-seed, Ulsan

Syed Muhd Hafiz, Yusuf Abdul Raof, Zaid Izlan Ibrahim Hakimi and Singles silver medalist, Muhd Nur Aiman made the cut for the medal round in fourth position with 2620. Shah Alam missed the cut by 74 pins finishing fifth.

Meanwhile the strong quartet of Anis Hannani Binti Romzi, Afiqah Burhabreyah Binti Hasnul, Puteri Nurul Dini and Faten Najihah Binti Ahmad Faik of Petaling Jaya led from start to finish to earn top-seed in the medal round with 2641.

Zatil Iman Abdul Ghani, Adlin Nadhirah Ghazali, Nurul Ayunni Junaidi and Singles gold medalist, Nurul Alyssa Junaidi of Shah Alam, who trailed their arch rival, Petaling Jaya throughout the three games, settled for second with 2560.

Julianne Marri Lacson Ramirez, Norel Gonzales Nuevo, Alyssa Louise Gutierrez and Maria Lourdes Cruz Arles of Paranaque were ecstatic to finish third with 2336 and making the medal round while Pasay's Kaygen Urnano Itaralde, Sofia Isabela S. Dytoc and Patricia Anne Baradi Carabeo were equally delighted to squeeze fourth with 2152.

Jakarta and Taichung took up fifth and sixth positions. The top 4 will qualify for the medal round with the top-seed meeting the fourth-seed and the second-seed versus the third-seed on a one match semi-finals in Baker's format. The winner of the semi-finals will square off in the final.
