Saudi leads Squad E first series

5th July, Doha: 2014 ABF Tour Egypt champion, Mohammed Al Saud of Saudi Arabia completed the first 6-games series to lead Squad E of the H.H. Emir Cup 2022 on Monday evening.

Al Saud had a moderate start with 217 in the opening game of the final qualifying squad, just one pin ahead of Qatar's Abdulla Muhsin Khuwar in second with 216 and Oman's Ghalib Albusaidi in third with 212.

The Saudi then picked up his pace with a superb 238 to maintain his lead but hot on his heels was compatriot, Bandar Al Yabah, who rolled 208 and 245 to take up second spot. Debutant, Tomas Kayhko of Finland was third.

Al Saud shot 215 after the third gaame and managed to stretch his lead to 33 pins after Al Yabah stumbled to a lowly 167. Kayhko rolled 222 to move into second spot and Al Yabah slipping down to third. The leader continued his relentless pace with 245 to extend his lead in the squad to 49 pins.


Squad E leader, Mohammed Al Saud after the first series

2013 ABF Tour Kuwait champion, Mansour Al-Hajri of Qatar shot a sizzling 276 to storm into second position as other contenders were dropping off their paces. Al-Hajri added another stunning 266 to take over the running from Al Saud after the fifth game but the Qatari suffered a poor 180 in his last game while Al Saud bounced back from a 183 in the fifth with 246 to lead the squad with 1344.

The Qatari settled for second with 1312 while another Qatari, Fahad Al-Emadi stormed home to snatch third spot with 1239. The leader, who made his first attempt in Squad C and is 38th in the overall standings, will be hoping to improve his current 12-game total of 2118 with another good series tomorrow to make at least Step 1 final.

Squad A high-series winner and overnight leader, Yousef Al-Jabir of Qatar remained in the lead with 2679. Squad C high-series winner, Annop Arromsaranon of Thailand is second with 2628 and Ahmed Al-Ruwaili of Qatar is third with 2625.

Squad D and will end the qualifying rounds of the championship and qualifiers positioned 7 to 38, Qatari qualifiers positioned 39 to 42, Qatari youth qualifiers positioned 43 and 44 along with the top 4 qualifiers from the one-game desperado squad will contest Step 1 final on Thursday, July 7.
