24th November, Kuwait: The rumour circulating around Guangzhou during the 16th Asian Games among the bowling fraternity that bowling has been taken out of the 17th Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, Korea is totally untrue.

The statement released by H.H. Sheikh Talal Mohd. Al-Sabah, President of Asian Bowling Federation states the following:

"This rumour is untrue and I could not understand why the bowling fraternity has this misconception. I have spoken to the President of Olympic Council of Asia, H.E. Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al-Sabah on this issue and was reassured that this was not so.

"Only the OCA can decide on the number of sports to be included in the Asian Games and not the Organizing Committee of the Host City. If there is any consideration by the OCA to exclude bowling in the 2014 Asian Games, I as President of the ABF would have been informed. Should that be the case, I will put all effort to lobby the support of OCA for our sport."
