8th March, Kuching: Team Dotmod broke the ice to win their first title with a well-deserved victory in the Baker 4 Dual Battle at the concluding Sarawak Hornbill Team Cup 2024 while Team DKI A, Indonesia emerged as overall champion.

After finishing second in the Trios long oil, third in the Trios short oil, another second in the Team of 4 short oil and an unlucky fourth in the Team of 4 long oil, Abang Afiq Yazid, Musayyar Bin Khalid, Muhammad Hazim and Ahmad Adil totaled 1345 over the 6-game Baker format.

Team Dotmod started off poorly with 189 but picked up the pace with 238, 221, 215 and 246 before ending in a good game of 236. Team of 4 long oil first runner-up, NSTBA 1 of Negeri Sembilan, who led the first two games, settled for second with 1280.

The surprise came from Team Wipers A of Wilayah Persekutuan, rolling 1235 to clinch third position. MBSA (Shah Alam) missed the podium after ending in fourth position with 1230. Aman Bowl rounded out the top 5 with 1207 pinfalls.

Team DKI A topped the Overall standings with a total of 52 points to emerge as Overall champion. They picked up 15 points in the Doubles short oil, 15 points in the Trios short oil, 15 points in the Team of 4 short oil and 7 points in the Team of 4 long oil.

Baker 4 Dual Battle champion, pipped Team Hero Bowling for second spot with a haul of 47 points while Team Hero Bowling totaled 40 points for third position.

Team DKI A went home with the top prize of RM10,000 as Overall champion leaving Team Dotmod and Team Hero Bowling winning RM7,000 and RM5,000 respectively as first and second runners-up.

Yang Berhormat Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak was the Guest of Honour and was on hand to present the prizes to the Overall winners. Yang Berusaha Mr Sunny Si, President of Amateur Bowling Association of Sarawak assisted in the presentations as well.

Also present were Yang Berusaha Tuan Haji Shaifubahri, Deputy President of ABAS and Yang Berusaha Mr Robert Lu, Vice President of ABAS who also gave away the prizes. A total of 42 teams registered for this year's championships.
