National bowlers dominate Squad D

7th September, Kuching: Tun Ameerul Al-Hakim led a Malaysian national bowlers domination of Dquad D first block qualifying round of the Sarawak International Open Bowling Championships 2019 with Sin Li Jane rolling the first 300.

Sin got off to a sizzling start with the first 300 of the championships in the opening game. 2019 Malaysian Open champion, Ahmad Muaz also had a great start with 260 but had to trail Sin in second. Muhammad Azizi Naim and Nurul Alyssa Bt Junaidi registered big games of 254 and 248 to follow in third and fourth.

The perfect gamer was on a roll adding 242 in the second game to stretch her lead to 74 pins as Muaz managed only 185. Sin's compatriot, Natasha Roslan posted a stunning 279 to move up to second while 2019 Hong Kong Open and ABF Tour Hong Kong champion, Rafiq Ismail took up fourth behind Timmy Tan in third.

Sin kept her lead despite returning only 197 in her third game as Muaz bounced back with a sizzling 278 to regain second spot, 31 pins behind. Tan remained in third while Tun Ameerul added a superb 267 to take up third.

The leader fought back with 225 in her fourth game but Tun Ameerul shot 240 to reduce the gap to 28 pins after taking up second spot. Tan and Muaz followed closely in third and fourth.

Tun Ameerul ended the block with 256 to snatch top spot with 1212. Sin finished with 207 to settle for second with 1196. Rafiq stormed home with a strong 278 to clinch third position with 1194 while Muaz and Roslan completed the top 5 with 1151 and 1142.

National youth, Nevern Netaneel finished eighth but topped the Youth 25 & Under division with 1072. Muhammad Hariz Adlan finished 21 pins behind Netaneel with 1051 for second and Nurul Alyssa Bt Junaidi took third position with 1040.

Muhammad Hariz claimed top spot of the Classified division with 1051 followed by Singapore's Hazel Chew in second with 1030. Clarence Hubert Tiu of the Philippines finished third with 1027. Ninty-six bowlers contested the "Joker" Squad to improved their 2 lower games in their Block 1 attempt.

Tun Ameerul became the overall leader in the Open division after all the scores from the four squads and Joker Squad scores tabulated. Sin and Rafiq were second and third. Muhd Syafiq B Kamal of Malaysia was the overall leader in the Classified division.

Muhd Syafiq also topped the Youth 25 & Under division followed by Izz Naqiuddin Putera and Squad A leader Tsen Fan Yew in third. Bowlers will resume with the second block of 5 games tomorrow. The top 60 with the highest 10-games pinfalls in each of the 3 divisions will qualify for their respective Masters finals.
