18th September, Bangkok: Overnight leaders, Daphne Tan of Singapore and Rafiq Ismail of Malaysia sealed their victory in the Women's and Men's Singles event of the 27th MWA Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships at the end of the fourth and final squad this morning.

Tan, who won the Masters bronze medal at the last championships, gave Singapore their first gold medal in the Singles event with 1382 pinfalls in the second squad yesterday. Lara Posadas-Wong of Philippines, won herself the silver medal as a birthday gift after topping Squad 4 with 1353 to snatch the silver medal.

Baek Seung Ja, who was second overnight, slipped down to third to settle for the bronze medal with 1340. Bernice Lim of Singapore missed the podium by 23 pins after being relegated down to fourth with 1340. Joint leader of the third squad, Jeong Jeong Yoon of Korea and Nora Lyana Nastasia of Malaysia ended up in sixth with 1301.

Yuri Sato of Japan rounded out the top five with 1306 while Squad 1 leader, Gillian Lim eventually finished eighth with 1289.

In the men's division, newly-crowned 2024 Thailand Open Masters champion and four gold medalist in the previous Asian Championships was unchallenged to pick up Malaysia's first gold medal with 1419. First perfect gamer, Jarrod Langford of Australia and Hafiz Zainuddin were the co-winners of the silver medal with 1391 and 1383 respectively.

Fourth squad winner, Syafiq Ridhwan of Malaysia gave Malaysia an almost clean sweep after picking up the bronze medal with 1370. Nu'man Syahmi of Singapore, who was third before the last squad, missed the podium and ended up in fifth with 1359.

Syahmi's team-mate and squad one leader, Jomond Chia finished eighth with 1343. The medal presentation for the Singles event will be held together with the Doubles event when the fourth and final squad ends tomorrow at 10.00 pm local time.

Competition will shift to the Doubles event for both the Men's and Women's divisions starting with Squad 1 later in the afternoon and Squad 2 in the evening. Squad 3 and 4 will wrap up the Doubles event on September 19.
