Singaporean, Taiwanese wins Senior and U22 Masters titles

8th March, Taoyuan: Seasoned campaigner, Hairon Bin Awang of Singapore captured the Senior Masters title of the 2nd Formosa International Bowling Classic 2025 while Teng Jo Yu of Chinese Taipei outclassed her male opponent to win the Youth U22 crown.

Third-seed, Hairon defeated top-seed, Yeh Chian Yu of Chinese Taipei in the Senior title match with a clean game, 194-169 to win the title. The 65-year-old Singaporean had earlier, dispatched two Taiwanese, second-seed, Lo Chi Liang and fourth-seed, Lu Kun Yu, 245-212-195 in the first match.

Hairon pocketed NT$60,000 (approx. US$1,870) as champion. Yeh settled for NT$40,000 as first runner-up while Lo and Lu earned NT$20,000 and NT$15,000 as second and third runners-up respectively.

In the six-games finals, Yeh finished first with 1428 pinfalls, 121 pins ahead of Lo in second with 1307. Hairon and Lu made the cut for the stepladder finals in third and fourth with 1282 and 1278. Ma Ying Hau missed the cut by 13 pins after finishing fifth.


Senior Masters winners with their trophies and prizes

In the Youth U22 title match, the only Taiwanese girl, Teng Jo Yu outclassed second-seed, Wan Muhammad Zarif Ikram of Malaysia, 223-180 to win the youth title. Wan Muhammad, who had earlier ousted third-seed, Li Chen Yu of Chinese Taipei and Jovi Lam of Hong Kong, 223-205-209 to face Teng in the finals.

Teng earned NT$30,000 (approx. US$900) and a bowling ball for her effort. The Malaysian took home NT$20,000 and a bowling ball as first runner-up. Ma and Li picked up NT$10,000 and a bowling ball and Li won NT$5,000 as second and third runners-up.

The champion had topped the six-games finals with 1265 total pinfalls to earn top-seed for the Stepladder finals. Wan Muhammad finish just four pins behind with 1261. Li and Ma made the Stepladder finals in third and fourth position with 1251 and 1249 respectively.

Liu Szu Wei missed the cut by six pins in fifth with 1243 and Adelia Nur Binti Irwan Syazalee of Malaysia in sixth with 1240. The Spinner Masters finals will be held later today while the Graded Masters Finals at 2030 hrs local time.
