Czech tops Boy's Singles Squad 3

11th July, Incheon: Lukas Jelinek of Czech Republic topped the Boy's Singles third squad of the 2024 IBF World Youth Championships to advance to the Matchplay finals as overall leader while Squad 2 leader, Kiri Watanabae of Japan led the Girl's division.

Jelinek amassed a 6-game total of 1540 to lead the third and final qualifying squad. Carl Eklund of Sweden finished second with 1492 and Bae Junghun of Korea took third spot with 1445. The Czech's total put him as the overall leader and will lead the top 16 into the Matchplay finals.

Squad 1 leader, Nasser Alkandri of Kuwait settled for third position in the combined table with 1447 followed by Bae in fourth while Squad 2 winner, Paul Purps of Germany rounded out the top five with 1432. The cut in 16th position in the standings went to Hassan Qasem of Kuwait with 1354.

Laurynas Narusis of Lithuania missed the cut by just a single pin with 1353 and Jacob Bockstie of USA also missed by five pins in 18th position with 1349.

Earlier in the day, Kiri Watanabae of Japan ended the qualifying rounds by winning the second and final squad with 1275. Colleen Pee of Singapore finished second with 1253 and Fiona Lindemann of Germany took third spot with 1226.

Squad 1 leader, Kim Boah of Korea remained unchallenged and retained top spot in the overall standings with 1298. Watanabae settled for second and Arianne Tay of Singapore finished third. Malaysia's Adania Mohd Redzwan and Singapore's Colleen Pee completed the top five.

The cut went in to Teng Jo-Yu of Chinese Taipei in 16th position with a score of 1195. Itzel Regina Moreno Mendez missed the cut by four pins finishing in 17th position with 1191. Jenny Mathiesen of Norway also missed by a narrow margin of four pins for 18th position.

The top 16 boys and top 16 girls will contest the Matchplay Rounds, divided into two groups. They will bowl 7 matches in a pre-drawn schedule. The top two from each group will advance to the semi-finals tomorrow.
