Malaysia ends campaign with second gold

6th July, Kuching, Sarawak: Ethan Damien Goh, Muhd Aiman Syahin Sulaiman, Adania Mohd Redzwan and Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee added a second gold medal at the 2026 IFB World Youth Bowling Championships with a well-deserved victory over Finland in the Mixed Team final.

Malaysia breezed past Finland 1, 255-180 in their opening game of the best-of-3 final to go one up. In the second game, the tie was much more a closer affair but the Malaysian quartet delivered one of their best performance in the championship with another 222-209 win to pick up their second gold medal.

The champion had survived a one-game tie-breaker in the Matchplay round in which they defeated USA, 220-195 to advanced to the semi-finals second in Group B with 15 points each. Malaysia 1 went on to beat top-seed, Sweden 1, 2-0 in the first semi-final match to earn their spot in today's final.

Finland 1 had to work hard to beat Germany 2 with a 2-1 victory. The Finns lost the first game, 194-202 but bounced back with a narrow 181-151 win in the second game. Finland 1 got the better of the Germans to take the third game, 237-222 to take on the Malaysians.


Mixed Team gold medalist, Australia

Malaysia finished second in the Overall Medal Tally with a haul of 2-0-1. United States took top honours with a haul of 2-2-3. Australia (1-1-1) tied with Finland (1-1-1) in second while Sweden finished fourth with 1-0-2.

A victory banquet will be hosted by Amateur Bowling Association and Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress at the ballroom of one of the official hotel, Imperial Hotel later this evening at 7.00pm. A total of 133 boys and 85 girls from 34 IBF member federations participated in this year championship.
