23rd January, Bangkok: Malaysians dominated the Men's TPB9 Singles event with Mohd Azrin Bin Rahim winning their third gold medal of the 13th ASEAN Para Games Thailand 2025 and Marcos Chang Hao Hong adding the silver while Chang Hong Low was awarded the bronze.

Sawai Padpong f Thailand started off brilliantly with 246 in his opening game to lead Mohd Azrin by 22 pins followed by Christopher Chiu Yue of Philippines in third, just one pin away. The Thai suffered a poor 147 in his second game to slip away quickly.

Mohd Azrin added 200 in his second game to take over the running as his team-mate, Marcos Ghang Hao Hong moved into second after rolling 211 and 220. The leader downed another superb game of 219 to pull away to a comfortable lead after Chang managed only 168.

The Malaysian went on to end with 192, 214 and 181 to seal victory with 1230 for the third gold medal for Malaysia. Chang recovered but settled for second to add a silver medal with 1198.

A third Malaysian Wong Kee Soon had finished third with 1192 but had to relinquish the bronze due to the rules which stipulated that no one country can win all the three medals in one event. Low Chang Hong of Singapore was therefore awarded the bronze medal with 1186.

Meanwhile Ronini topped the Women's TPB8 Singles (wheelchair category) event with 834 ahead of two Malaysians, Ruzila Binti Mustafa and Julieyati Binti Abd Jalal who had to settle for the silver and bronze medals with 795 and 775.

Porntip Siriwet of Thailand missed the podium after ending in fourth position with 731 while Bualai Kuntong of Thailand completed the top five with 724.

The Men's TPB10 will contest their Singles event later this afternoon. Competition will shift to the Doubles commencing tomorrow with TPB1+2/TPB1+3 and TPB2+2 in the morning and TPB4+4 in the afternoon. The Doubles TPB9+9 and TPB10+10 will conclude the tenpin bowling competition of the games on January 24.
