Four girls advance to Semi-finals

11th July, Incheon: Yumi Yuzuriha Seragaki of Peru and Annalise O'Byrant of USA, Stella Lokfors of Finland and Ariane Tay of Singapore advanced to the Girl's Singles semi-finals of the 2024 IBF World Youth Championships after finishing as top two in Group A and Group B.

Nora Johansson of Sweden set the pace by winning her first five matches to lead Group A Matchplay finalists. But she failed to win her remaining two matches and ended up with 15 points and 1425 pinfalls. O'Bryant also ended with 15 points from five wins.

Yuni Yuzuriha Saragaki of Peru also won five matchess for 15 points, making it a three-way tie. In the one-game tie-breaker, Saragaki emerged as winner of Group 2 with a score of 247 and the American shot 216 to seal her place in the semi-finals.

Johansson was devasted after managing only 190 in the match in which she stumbled to two opened frames and ended up third in the group.


Annalise O'Byrant, Yuri Yuzuriha, Stella Lokfors and Arianne Tay

Stella Lokfors of Finland won five of the seven matches contested and topped Group B with 15 points and 1329 pinfalls to advance to the semis. Arianne Tay of Singapore tied Kiri Watanabae of Japan, in second spot with 12 points each.

Tay easily defeated the Japanese, 268-192 to clinch second spot in Group B and a semi-final spot. Yuzuriha will face Tay in the first semi-final match and Lokfors will meet the American in the other semi-finals. The Boy's Matchplay Rounds will be held tomorrow at 9:00 am local time.
